Are there people still making a lot of money on Ebay and Amazon? Is it harder now to find products at prices to still be competitive?

    Hey,

    I would think so.

I just helped two people very recently on their Amazon ecommerce sites so it would seem so.

    You kidding?

Last month I received a $4000+ check for my commissions from Amazon. Just like every month.

If you are good at something there's no way you aren't going to make money. Actually money will follow you and not viceversa.

Do you make that just by promoting an Amazon affiliate site?

I think OP was referring to actually selling on the sites, not affiliate marketing.

Yes you can still make money on Ebay and Amazon. I sell physical products and do quite

well. The key to Ebay in my opinion is research and a market for what you are selling.

This last holiday season I bought all my items from Walmart at retail and put them

on Ebay and sold this item as fast as I could put them on. Use Ebay pulse and the

completed listings for your research. Most people over think selling especially on

Ebay. If you live in a city with more than 20,000 people in it you should be able to

find plenty of stuff to sell.

Try going to thrift stores, outlet stores, garage sales, clearance sections of stores. I

Know this may not be new information but it works for me.

Plus one from me. Ebay selling can make you lot of profit. You just need to catch the opportunity! Search for offers and sales, buy from them and re-sell on higher price.

I used to do this with my brother when we were younger, it really works, you just need to be up-to-date for any sales.

Yes of course people are still making money on eBay and Amazon.

In both marketplace, the competition is getting harder from year to year because of the increase of the sellers Therefor, nowadays, it's very hard to sell general popular items that everybody sold.

In order to make money in these marketplaces, you need to find your own niche and exploit the niche as fast as you can.

Some people still try to sell on eBay, despite high fees and punitive rules.

But let me put it to you this way: eBay has bottomfeeders who insist on bargains. Amazon, on the other hand, has quite high prices. This is possible because of Amazon Prime. There are actually people who try to buy everything they need from Amazon, including groceries, because they get free shipping on all of it.

Which venue would you rather sell on?

Whichever you choose, make up your mind quickly. The real profits in ecommerce come in the fourth quarter, and you should be sourcing your merchandise for that right now.

Yes I definitely agree. I've decided to stick to only selling in bulk to resellers and stay away from ebay and amazon. Alot of my clients sell my items on both and I don't want to be competing with them. Plus its much easier this way.

eBay does seem to be on the decline. An abundance of sellers has seen a race to the bottom when it comes to prices, meaning that unless you have a low competition product (good luck there) then returns are low. I recently helped some one set up an Amazon WebStore with Sell on Amazon, where the products appear on the main listings. This seems to be working well, as Amazon's seller requirements are tighter.

I think Ebay and Amazon can earn you big cash only if you have legitimate high quality supplier of products for competitive prices. These marketplaces have lot of competition and still lot of space for new sellers. Find direct factory suppliers and resell them remove middle man costs so that you have larger margin to compete as well as earn.

Ebay kills you with their fees and Amazon will kill your business if you make money too fast. If i had to choose 1 to pick, by far it would be Ebay. Despite the fees, you can still make serious dough on it.

Ebay definitely does hit you hard with the fees and there was a period of time where I hated them.

I've done that same technique in the past and can definitely work. Especially around Christmas time. Theres actually a similar but much better way of doing that which makes so much more money but I'm keeping that one to myself.
