Did WSOPRO Just Die? (Nope... they're back up)

Is anyone else experiencing problems with W+? It seems their database is offline and all buy buttons just disappeared from everyone using them.

Man would that suck if you had just launched a product.

Not great. There are now also a ton of WSO's sitting there unable to make any sales.

I'm sure they are on to it... one would hope.

You should really have a backup that can be added to your WSOs quickly in case W+ goes down - such as just accepting Paypal directly.

The problem with that is affiliate traffic.

If you switch the payment button from W+ to directly from Paypal, then any affiliate sales traffic won't be credited/paid correctly.

      Not good.

If WarriorPlus.com is down then the affiliate links won't be working/redirecting to the WSOs during that time anyway - I would think that is run off their database as well. So, you really wouldn't be stealing from affiliates since their links aren't functioning during that time.

          Really?

If a customer can't purchase, they can try back later. The affiliate gets the sale or no one does (if the customer doesn't try again). The affiliate can also mail again, explaining the glitch.

If they CAN purchase through the direct PayPal link, then the WSO creator gets the sale. The customer has no idea that the affiliate wasn't credited. The affiliate loses sales and it looks like the WSO creator is "stealing" commissions.

          Again, not good.

    Hey everyone,

As you noticed, we had an issue with the database server that is now resolved. Total time affected was about 20 mins.

The most unlikely problem was the culprit -- diskspace. Seems like the process that notifies us of low space didn't do its job.

Anyway, all cleared up, plenty of space, shouldn't happen again.

There is NEVER a good time for something like this to happen, but luckily Friday night was probably the best case. To those who were affected, I sincerely apologize.

    Thanks for you patience.

    Mike

I think you're missing the point Shay. Let's say you send out an email with your affiliate link in it and warriorplus.com is down. Your affiliate link won't work and will not take the person to the sales thread. During that time when your affiliate link isn't working the seller can use Paypal. During this time the only people making purchases would be ones browsing the forum - since warriorplus.com is down at that time you don't have to worry about any referrals being sent to the forum. And then of course once it comes back online, the seller can remove the Paypal option and add back the W+ option.

I can see a whole lot of ways that can go sideways, but maybe that's just me.

      I'll hush now.

I'll side with you Shay, it's better for vendor + affiliate relations if no one gets the sale as opposed to just a vendor.

Whatever a vendors motivation to switch out the links during that period would definitely have a negative effect with the affiliates and regardless of the explanation they would never mail or promote for you again.

So, Shay is right... It's not always about the money folks... I'd rather have a good relationship with my affiliates and lose a few sales rather than the opposite effect.

Shay didn't miss the point at all... The only point you're trying to make here is gaining a trickle of sales while damaging relations with your affiliates. Regardless of your explanation, your affiliates wouldn't ever mail for you again.

And how do you know exactly when W+ is back up and running? See where affiliates would have a problem?

I think I'd be pretty pissed if I just mailed out for a offer and saw the button changed to a non affiliate buy now button.

For the sake of a few sales, you're best of sitting it out. Kinda makes you look desperate anyway.
