Weight Loss - Low Carb - What to do

Hi Guys

After moving on from the girlfriend, myself and my brother are about to setup a weight loss business as we both love fitness, weight training and he's a personal trainer.

He has been writing an ebook and read it earlier.

Trouble is, he has written it about the low carb diet which does work in how he has done it as he did it himself in the past but I didnt realise he was giving it that direction.

I'm slim now (eating well, exercise etc) but i didnt do it the way he has written is so feel ... wrong.. building a business around something that i havnt done myself

How would you guys go about promoting it and what upsells?

Many Thanks everyone

Dave

Dave...I gotta ask this first...how many people do you think only promote things they've done before? For example, I've never been a chinchilla, but I'm building a site on chinchillas to use a demo site for other businesses right now. (Quit laughing...it's gonna be hilarious. Look in my post history if you don't believe me.)

You have to figure out how to promote it for yourself. You can do it the old-fashioned SEO way, you can do a list, you can do article syndication, you can do PPC, you can do affiliates through JVZoo and Clickbank...I'd read through here and see which sounds the most appealing to you and then ask more questions to fine tune the method. You (and anyone else reading this) are welcome to PM me with more specific questions later on if need be.

Confidence is wonderful. Confidence AND chinchillas...that's a grand slam in my book. Believe it or not, my chinchilla page, which I didn't even plan on monetizing, hit Page 1 of Google in 2 days with no backlinking and no content and got 14 hits the first day out of the gate. It's monetized now with content so we'll see if it can turn a profit.

And here's a tip for your future at the WF: Instead of replying to each post with the 'quote' button, hit the 'multiquote' button under every post you want to reply to. When you get to the bottom of the thread, hit the 'reply' button on the left and you'll get all of the posts quoted at once, then you just comment in-between them. Took me a while to figure that one out.

Good luck with your site , sounds like a fun niche .. especially if you have some chinchillas at home to take photos of.. if not, get some heh

Jason is spot on on his points.

I just want to add this: your brother did it, right? Well then, between the two of you, one of you has lost weight that way. You could add a related product to the mix detailing your way to weight loss. Not everyone digs a low carb diet. My wife is fanatical about her low carb lifestyle. Me? I can only do two weeks or so of low carb before everyone I meet becomes a potential violent crime victim.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

lol yeah, I tried low carb for 4 days and noooway was it for me. I lost all my weight a different way and still do this day never put it back on , was 200lb at school for example

I totally get you regarding related products, its good to hear. It was that kind of thing that was bugging me because on low carb, you don't always have the same energy levels.

      Thanks very much Dan

If your brother is a personal trainer, both he and you would know that there's a lot more to weight loss than a "low carb diet". This niche is also extremely competitive. To make an inroad in this niche, I think you need to come up with something unique that has some real value - the low carb diet has been around for decades and is no longer seen as a viable weight loss solution on its own. Read what the successful marketers in this niche are pushing as well as current medical research. I do believe there IS a hot button in this niche and that is the obesity epidemic, now seen as a national crisis. Offer a unique approach to this problem based on current research - diet, natural foods, activity, interval/intensity training, mindset, hormones, the curse of processed sugar, time limitation of daily food intake - and you will be on your way. Just my twopence.

Yeah, totally agree there's alot more to weight loss than just low carb but as he has written it in that way, was over complicating things in my head on upsells etc. I dont think we will it low carb as there is a stigma on it anyway so will kind of.. brand it into our own variation

Anway, I will stop waffling but send my thanks..

Dave, believe in yourself! It is ok for your brother to have lost the weight described in his ebook, and opening a business around that. Your experience of losing weight may be very valuale for the clients that have a harder time following his plan. Look at the bigger picture. Your input and experiences can be just as valuable.

      Thanks Molly, great to hear

Yeah, people want the magic bullet so look for a particular way to do something but don't always see the bigger picture that theres more than one way. Kind of how i was thinking on this to be honest eh lol

Thanks again to everyone for the motivation! Really appreciate it

I understand that by not losing weight that weigh yourself, you don't feel authentic. And I can also understand the need to be authentic when doing business. However, you don't need to have personally done it that way, all you need is a case study that proves that it works. Do you have someone in your life who could lose a few pounds and would love some one to walk them through it? Put them on your program and document everything. Not only will you have that feeling of authenticity that is obviously important to you, but you will have some great information and before/after pictures for your sales page.

Just qualify it..."many people have had", "some people have had", great success on a low carb diet and you "may be able to also".

NEVER insist that someone can have success on any plan. There is just potential, possible, maybe, etc. success.

Blanket statements that "you will have success on this plan" can land you in hot water with the FTC and qualifying does not infer that you did the plan yourself.

You are slim and fit, so you know how did you keep yourself fit and slim. You can share those as well. Moreover, this is actually not a matter that you have to be used to in promoting that. If you know, the way you are going to show others are really effective, you can do that without any hesitation.
