EU Cookie Law - UK has backed out(ish)

Hey,

Not sure if this update has been covered here but it looks as though UK has seen some sense and changed its stance on the new EU cookie law.

source : Cookies law changed at 11th hour to introduce 'implied consent' | Technology | guardian.co.uk

I did a quick search here and didn't find this update on here, but if it is no doubt it will get zapped.

    LOL

So they made a law to tell that the user gives implied consent... which is how it was before the law.

Glad to see the UK legal system is as good as the US.

It must feel great to be a member of the EU. I hope one day we can be a member of an overreaching external union that attempts to pass binding law that regulates commerce in the US and erodes our civil rights... currently all we have to worry about is congress ratifying treaties passed by the UN for that purpose.

For anyone in the UK worried about this subject read this document especially the section where Implied Consent is defined:

    http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisati...idance_v3.ashx

It seems to imply that in addition to your TOS having a cookie and tracking policy may signify that at least you are attempting to comply...

I'm not sure this is the good news I think it is, the law doesn't effect only people in certain countries, its like the FTC, if you have traffic coming from the country in question (Europe in this case) then you must comply.

I have to comply with FTC regulations, even though I'm not in America, as I have visitors from the US, as does most people, so if we have a website on the World Wide Web, this means we can obviously receive traffic from Europe, end result, we all must comply, right????
