Affiliating Using Only Articles

Okay if you've made money by writing an article and then linking the reader straight to your affiliate products, please tell me how you got the person to buy. I am having a hard time getting this done and I just need some advice. Also can you link me to the article that you are getting your buys from, I just want to see how its done. Pm if you don't feel comfortable posting a link.

The answer is "badly", and "without good results" and "by people who aren't still doing that a year later" (mostly, they've either changed their techniques or they're no longer internet marketers). And there are reasons for all of that.

    Here's a link: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5210243

That post was written specifically about ClickBank products just because that was the subject of the thread in which it was offered, but you can more or less substitute the words "affiliate products" for "ClickBank products" to make it more general: the principle is a general one.

I have also used this way. But to sell only products that article marketing, will probably take more time to build prestige ...

If you send readers directly to your affiliate products, you may not succeed. Best is to build list first.

I expect you are having a hard time because this is NOT the way long term, very successful internet marketers work, be it with Clickbank specifically, or any affiliate product in general.

You will make virtually no sales by trying to "sell" via an article or post. People aren't that gullible; they buy from people they trust. To establish that trust takes time, effort and patience. That's why you build a list.

Your job, through the words you write is to PRE-SELL and eventually lead your readers to click on your affiliate links. Leave the hard selling to the end merchant.

Fill your website/blog with quality information about the product. Offer them a free gift in exchange for their email address, then continue the momentum of building trust and establishing yourself as an expert though your auto responder.

  • I'm going to keep going with this until I've done enough to come to the conclusion that this absolutely doesn't work.

The day you come to that conclusion may be the day that you start to make a living from it. What you're asking about, "direct linking" or "bum marketing" as some people call it, is a recipe for failure with affiliate sales, and is putting yourself under a huge handicap, compared with all your competitors (of whom there are so many).

It's one of those questions about which there are two slightly different consensuses of opinion. If you ask "anyone who wants to reply in a forum" (where a lot of people just repeat information from 3 years ago, because they once read it in an ebook somewhere and decided they believe it) then you'll perhaps find a few people telling you that it might work for you. If - instead - you could ask only "affiliate marketers who are making a living from it", right now, then I think almost every single one would tell you that the day you start building lists is the day you, too, might start earning a living from it.

You've perhaps seen some of those regularly repeated threads in which experienced Warriors are asked "What's the one thing you'd do differently if you were starting again tomorrow?" Maybe you've noticed that the almost universal answer is "I'd start building my lists on day 1"?

      There are reasons for that.

I apologise for the fact that I'm saying something you don't want to hear and may decide to ignore completely. It may still be helpful to others reading it.

It's a numbers game really. Conversion depends on the product you're promoting, some products/services are very useful while others might not appeal to everybody.

At times, I've made more sales with a 200 word article than I did with a 1500 word article. Short and sweet seems to work pretty well.

If I think about myself, for cheaper products I'd easily buy from a well-written short article. On the other hand, if I'm looking to spend anything above $47 I'll only buy through a long, detailed and honest review, highlighting both good and bad points.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6320571].message }}
  • Well Ettienne can you send me a few links to your top selling articles so that I can see what works?

I just want to see what works, thats all... thank you for your reply

It sounds as though your web copy isn't as strong as it should be. Are those your 'landing pages' in your signature? If they are, and the products on that page are the ones you're having trouble with, I can understand why people aren't ordering. The copy just isn't compelling enough to convince people they should invest in those types of products.

If you're talking about something else entirely, I'd be more than happy to take a look at it for you.

Most of what I would tell you is already posted, so I'll leave it at answering your question above...

    Dumb luck.

Someone already ready to buy stumbled across my article with the (expletive deleted) direct link at the exact right moment. While I was happy to accept the sale, I was saddened to think how many sales I would lose because I forgot to change the link when I sent out the article.
