Best Web2.0 Site To Publish on

A few months back I created about 15 blogs in my niche at wordpress.com. Not having read the terms of service I put in my affiliate link pretty much everywhere on the sites I built. Unique content and lots of affiliate links. Well they cranked for a month and I made a very large grip of cash. My best month ever! Well, needless to say Wordpress.com found my blogs due to the traffic they were getting and cut me dry deleting my account and sites.

No worries I did not know but understand why they did. My theory is move on and don't sweat it.

At any rate I would like to try this technique again as it was so successful except I do not want to do it again with wordpress.

So what site would you use and which site do you find the most effective for generating traffic? Hubpages, squidoo, wetpaint, vox, opera, blogger or some other I am missing? There are so many web2.0 easy to build sites and blog platforms out there just have no idea which one tends to rank the best in google and therefore drive the most traffic.

Anyone with experience and ideas I would appreciate the suggestions!

I have been using hubpages with some good success but not as well since they have lot of restrictions on what can be published and how many affiliate links you can use etc. So I am looking to expand to another service also.

Any reason you wouldn't opt to own your own domain?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Good question and actually someone had mentioned that to me before. I have used and continue to use my own domain but I like to spread things out a little bit to keep my eggs in a few different baskets so to speak. I also notice that there is more traffic, and better ranking if I use web2.0 sites. For example I have many pages almost 2x the nunber of pages on my own domain versus the ones I have at hubpages.com. However hubpages drives 8x more traffic. my blog gets about 1,000 visitiors a day and my hubpages generate about 8,000 visitors.

wordpress.com is one of the top web 2.0 platforms to be using to drive traffic. What you learned is not to load your free wordpress blogs up with aff links. Instead craft them to drive traffic to your money page without the aff links and use them as feeders. I wouldn't stop using them just because you had this initial bad experience. You apparently did well for a month, so just set up another account and go again.

    Hey Winebuddy-
The traffic sounds great but it does not convert really well. Don't want to reveal my niche but some niches are very easy to generate a ton of traffic in fast and others a smaller stream of traffic is difficult to get. However what I have found is it all depends on how that traffic converts. Buying keywords is all the rage right now and that makes sense. Just suffice it to say mine aren't buying keywords but do generate traffic.

rhab- I noticed that from my little bit of work with wordpress. It was an amazing flood of traffic. I like your idea and thought that was what I was doing but when the traffic and money started coming in posting my affiliate link everywhere was just too tempting. So I think you are right about going back and revising my strategy. So you are saying go ahead and put in some links to your main domain and use it as a feeder. That makes a lot of sense.

One quick question for you rhab, what types of wordpress domains do you use. for example I was frequently using nichekeyword.wordpress.com. However this might be one of the things they flagged me for. They stated that my blogs were clearly created to generate traffic and affiliate sales. I tried to challenge the generate traffic piece because aren't all blogs. At any rate what would be a good way to not look obvious with the domain and still get my keyword in? Should I use a more broad niche keyword or a specific one. Any ideas?

    Thanks in Advance!

Just to hit on winebuddy's question why not share your traffic secret with us? I would be more then happy it is very basic really and something you have heard over and over again. I could probably wrap it up in a nice bow and make it an underground secret nija technique and sell it for $95 bucks but that is really not me.

I use good keyword research and sort keywords for the most trafficked keywords with the least amount of competition. I know that I can conquer pretty much any keyword with less then about 50,000 competing sites when the "keyword" is in quotes. Or anything less then 150,000 with anything not in quotes ex: keyword. I also ideally look for something that is producing 3,000 visitors a month. TO help automate this some I have used SENuke more recently and also have used it he past Wordtracker.com. I also just like the free google External keyword tool.

After I get a list of my good keywords typically I can find at least 20 keywords that fit my requirements. I start with the one that has the least amount of competition. I post an article to my blog right off the bat and make sure to ping it or do some minimal social bookmarking of it so the article gets indexed quickly. Now I have a pretty good network of links coming to most of my sites so a few minutes after I publish something goodbot is there. The Magic of web2.0, video marketing and rss feeds really can bring the google bot quickly. So I get the googlebot to at least index my article. Then depending on how competitive the keyword is I will go about writing another article. Typically one that can be spun a few times or something with a few variations. I will submit to a random assortment of the following sites. ezinearticles.com, wetpaint.com, hubpages.com, squidoo.com and etc. I try to always post a few different articles to a few of the above sites. I do not do the same thing every time and I vary all of the components.

Then if it is a super competitive niche I will take the same article or write another spinable article using a closely related keyword. So my original keyword might have been blue widget and that Is what I want to rank #1 for. I will write a third article (one on my blog, one on a few web2.0 sites and the current one) and submit it using the site uniquearticlewizard.com. I spread my links int he resource box around between the web2.0 sites and my blog so there is a lot of variation in the links and use different link text. You can build 15 to 20 different resources boxes so I put a lot of variation between link text and where the link is going to spread the love around. I then submit typically to 20 to 50 sites a day automatically.

Last but not least if it is something I still care to push forward on and I often don't I might make a short video. I will often look for questions that people are asking at Yahoo Answers. I then turn the question and answer into a video using the keyword. I submit this using trafficgyser.

Okay, that is my full secret sauce nija tactic recipe. All laid out for everyone to see. Kind of scary I hope this post gets sunk fast. Although what you will notice is it often works pretty well because it is a lot of work. People don't want to spend the time. They are content with a blog post or a article at ezinearticles maybe. They often won't go the distance to really rank for number one. Also there is nothing in the above post that is really all that secret or magic. However it is about 80% of what most seo ebooks and videos courses contain today. So now you can start working your a$$ off for a little stream of income that eventually turns into a little bit bigger and a little bit bigger one. The other trick is save your money as much as possible from buying another technique or trick. when you do spend for an ebook typically buy from the WSO section here as you can get great products at well below the average price and the techniques are fresh and new and not rehashed. You also want to make sur ehte technique is in alignment with your business model. For example if you are trying to make money with clickbank or adsense using whitehat content sites don't buy an ebook on blackhat CPA offers. At least don't buy it until y ou are very firm and earning money from the first technique. In other words don't technique hop or get caught by info overload.

There are of course some smaller tricks and tweaks to each of the sites and techniques including optimizing your video, getting the most out of your articles and etc. But that is the basic blueprint. Kind of gave away the farm and sorry this post is sooo darn long.

    Hope it helps.

I really like Weebly.com. Very idiot proof to use and Google loves them for ranking.

I do suggest you get hosting for your niche. If anything, use the domain only for your money pages. The pages you have your "buy" button on. This way, you can always change that page, make it a landing page to build in an opt-in list at later date and THEN have it redirect to a sales page.

Remember, if you're going to build backlinks with Web 2.0 properties all pointing back to YOUR domain, you don't want point to OTHER free web properties. Once your backlinks die for whatever reason you have nothing.

    Regards,
    Dennis

Dennis has a good point. Even though you are having success with hubpages and other web 2.0 sites, they could disappear overnight. You are at their mercy.

It would be better to have your own domains and use the web 2.0 sites to link to your domains. Use the wordpress sites to link to your domains. Make a linkwheel so it's not so obvious also. Mix it up also so you don't get google slapped eventually. That's my 2 cents.
