Content Writing Service - How to drive interest

Hi guys,

As some of you will by now know, I'm setting up my content company as we speak. I'm looking for the ways to drive interest and gain those clients, and was hoping for some pointers. But before we begin, let me show you what I already think and know:

With Google's recent focus on informative, engaging content, I foresee a rise in demand for quality writers. Whether this is true or not I don't know, as people are still commenting continuously on spinning and people are still hiring non-Natives to create poor quality articles for peanuts. For me, the price of an article should not dip below $10. You're paying for someones time and effort - you pay your web developer well, and you pay your graphic designer well, so why would you want to pay so little for content when engaging your audience is what is really important?

I have been working on oDesk for a few reasons. Firstly is to keep that bank balance ticking over. But it is also to write and write on various different topics, improving every second. It also helps to build a positive rep with potential future clients. I would prefer, however, to drive traffic to my own site, which is not yet ready.

At the moment, I have a 'Coming Soon' page, which you can see in my sig. It is basic, with just the logo and buttons for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. I have not put any effort into SEO here - there are no meta tags, there are no keywords, nothing, it's just for people who already know about it, really.

I want to get a blog going on this site, asap, where I will be posting articles 3-4 times a week. After these are indexed, I will submit them to directories in the hope of syndication - they are of a high quality after all. I hope that this will not only drive direct traffic, but will also help with my page rank. I also intend to post regularly on forums, facebook and twitter, but only useful, engaging information.

This is, in essence, the entirety of my plan. What do I need to do? What can help me, and how do I drive traffic to a writing services company? I will post in the Warrior for Hire section, but when my site is live, so you can all see my work

Thanks for the suggestions, they will be most appreciated.

Tom
