Selling With Amazon Associate, Advice Please!!!

Hi,

I am looking at setting up a website based on a certain niche and advertising amazon products on my site. Each product will have its on url e.g. niche.com/nichecategory/productname.

I want it to be an authority site, I know these take time and I will be putting plenty in.

I was wondering if it is still easy to outrank amazon since all the google updates have happened, it always used to be a good sign was just wondering if this is still the case.

Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about outranking Amazon just get started building your site and be sure to add really great content and reviews of the products if you really focus on that you will eventually outrank Amazon naturally.

Write your reviews naturally and don't over optimize your pages by using too many keywords use the right tags titles and you will do just fine over time.

Like you say an Authority site takes time so just make sure your ready for a Marathon but it will pay off in the end.

    kickin it on Amazon

      Cheers for the reply Gaz.
I am ready for the marathon

I was just doing my competition research and was going to try and rank some products on google, to generate some income.

I didn't know whether seeing amazon in the results is still deemed as a good thing in terms of ranking ability.

      Thanks.

What is a good # of keywords per article/review?

Forget # of keywords just write the article naturally forgetting about number of keywords just make sure the article reads good and goes through all the benefits and features of the product and don't overdo the keywords.

If you write a natural article your keyword will appear multiple times just be sure to have your keyword in your title and tags.

With call the action I usually have one above the fold and one at the end of the article but focus mainly on getting them to click through using the text within the article, using sentences like

John Richards gave this model a 4 star rating which was great however he mentioned something that was quite concerning about the XYZ product you can read his full review here

I will then link to that specific review on Amazon. I use leaders like that throughout the article.

My Amazon authority sites routinely outrank Amazon virtually right out of the gate with almost no backlinking. It's certainly feasible. Just provide good content and strong calls to action.

What kind of call to action are you talking about?
Like "buy from Amazon" and "check the Amazon price" buttons?

I actually don't make use of buttons all that much. Each product review page has 1 buy button and it's the actual add-to-cart button that extends the cookie to 90 days. Outside of that, I use text links (read more, more features, check price, etc).

Before you decide to go on the dark path...

Take a step back. Why not PPC? Why not
    something else other than SEO?

It's going to pay off a lot in future, and I
can't stress this enough: The road to
breaking 6 figures is using PAID traffic!

IMO, even Amazon makes paid traffic
free once you've got the process down.

The problem with PPC is that if you are inexperienced with promoting affiliate sites with AdWords, you have a good chance of seeing the ban hammer. I guess you could go with alternate PPC programs but AdWords is clearly the 800lb gorilla.

Sir Gaz Cooper has a good training program for people looking to make money from Amazon product. If you are new to IM or Amazon it will be a pretty good place to start.

For the issue of outranking a site Amazon that won't be a problem at all as there are tools you can use to analyze competition. Your competition research should give you a rough idea whether to continue in the niche/keyword or not. A lot of those authority sites are not really a game for small site if the owners focus on building quality back links because the authority sites mainly rank in tons of places based on search engine trust.

If you focus on building quality link the right way within a short period of time you can outrank them except if its a keyword they are also targeting and building links on.

You can also use video and other means to promote your amazon product.

Outranking Amazon should not be on your agenda at this stage. Just go ahead and make sure that you get your fundamentals mastered at this stage - then venture into details of the SEO aspect. There are certainly ways to outrank Amazon.

Wolf, does that 90 day cookie only work for the one item? And does the 24 hr cookie still work on all items?
