SERIOUSLY - Can a list from IM giveaway event be responsive?

No doubt that becoming a contributor in giveaway event is a great way to make your list bigger. In number, yes. But how responsive could they be?

In my newbie days I knew myself I signed up to GA event for a lot of freebies and making my inbox BOOMED :p. It's so dizzy to read or remember the marketers' names, even if I open their email. And seriously, even when I purchased one of the marketer's OTO, and it made me a BUYER....I still forgetting who I purchased it from.

I mean come on, every people signing up to get your freebie is also signing up to LOTS of someone else's. Your name and email is diluted and drowned among other Johns and Janes. .....So I finally "cheat" it. After I signed up and get the freebie, I unsubscribed. I think it just helps them and me. They don't have to store a "useless" name like me which will burden their autoresponder, and I don't intend to read -- leave alone buying from -- their emails.

Sometimes if there's a marketer sending TOO MUCH freebies at ONE SHOT upon the sign up (like, 50 ebooks with MRR), I really long to reach them and say "it's OK to give me a lot of freebies. But you don't need to drain everything this way at once. Give them slowly to build relationship with your list. A candle that burns too bright will die faster in the dark."

OK, enough rant from my part. What I'm telling is actually a view from the eyes of a subscriber when I was in my n00b days. Now tell me your experience with giveaway event -- did you really get a responsive list from there?

I think it all depends on the quality of you followups - if they are highly targeted and offer value to your list, then yes, why not!

Generally speaking, my experience has been that "you get what you pay for"...

Freebie seekers generally remain freebie seekers.

You want to build a list of buyers... that is where you will find success.
