I strongly believe that people make mistakes on Internet marketing, it could be paid too much or spend too much time on Traffic Driving etc.Do share what are common mistakes you had faced during Internet marketing, so people like me can minimize the risks in IM.

    First and foremost mistake: Not Taking Action!

    I spent wayyyyy toooo much time with "shiny object" syndrome running from method to method without doing anything.

    When I first start IM Business, I spend a lot of time to find traffic source. No short cut in IM. It is the learning curve. It is always difficult at first. I pay professional to write articles and Blog for me because I am not a good writer. IM is a business. It is impossible for us to know everything. You may good in writing so you can save the money to engage professional to write articles and Blog for you. You can use your money wisely to buy Solo Ad.

    Hi, Centextkt, this is the most common mistake people make. You are not the first one. Concentrate and focus on one or two things to get traffic to your squeeze page / website. I have always mention in this forum. So you will not information overload and don't know how or what to do.

    Focus.

    There are too many paths you can take. It's easy to bounce around, and more enjoyable. But you have to buckle down and stick with one or two things all the way through.

    We tend to procrastinate,
    we tend to look for the push button,
    we tend to waste time
    waste money on hyped products
    think that a product/software/service gonna change our life
    ask others how to make money, learn all the ways, and then get overwhelmed.

    To stop asking "how to make money", you need to define your own destination first.
    To see result, you need to try and fall first
    To achieve success, you need to go through trial and error by yourself
    To reach your goal, you have to take hit on your face but decided to keep going

    The common mistakes in IM is very similar to common mistakes in life:
    If you fear to fall, you will never learn, you will never take action, you will never see result.
    Fall, but remember to get up as soon as possible =))

    Shiny object is probably on of the biggest Internet marketing mistakes. doing anything is better than doing nothing.
    Another thing I often make is reading too much and then I get an "Information overload". -All the methods get mixed in my head, and I cant realize any of them.
    Learning a little from book and tutorial, but learning a lot from your experience is best way to success.

    The biggest mistake is... trying to do "internet marketing". Let me explain.

    Most people enter IM hoping to make money without giving any consideration to what value they want to offer in exchange for that money.

    So they're basically looking for a method that extracts money into their bank accounts.

    Now, if you are focused on value creation in order to make a profit you will try to see where internet marketing fits into your plan. Then you do what makes sense and use other marketing methods as well (such as direct mail or newspaper advertising).

    You see, I'm aware that most people ignore the above. Those are the same people who cry every time Google changes their algorithm. They are also the same ones who go years without making as much as $10 total. Finally there are the lucky ones - even those can't sustain their success.

    And that's the biggest mistake in IM today.

    Not knowing what you want at first. Would you want to create an ebook to solve somone's problem? Then you should write focus on how to start and end that book. Do you want to create video tutorials on how to solve something? Then you should complete it first even before sending in traffic to your site.

    You may learn a hundred and one methods to bring in customers to your site, but if your site isn't ready, meaning there's really nothing in it, for in the first place you didn't know what you wanted, then all of those traffic will simply fly away and never ever come back.

    Easiest mistake is to not have a narrow enough focus.

    There are over 150million overweight people in America.. so, you would think, "Hey! Let me do a weight loss product, ton of customers!"

    but, marketing to overweight teen boys and how they can get girls after losing weight... Will trim your audience divided by 10 to 15million, but multiply your sales by 10.. (or actually, better than that.. because the other way you would get zero).

    pick a focused / targeted niche, add your twist, and deliver something of quality of quality to them.

      After four years it's hard to remember...mistakes...hmm. I had a white board on my wall after about the first six months, it only said one thing, "you can't do it all today, slow the f*@# down!"
