Best ways to build traffic to a new site

Can some of my peeps here lend a hand and give some tips and tricks in building traffic for a new site? I tried SE Nuke X, and it has helped a bit, but no where near what a new site needs. It is wordpress based and SEO optimized, but still need to build some SEO links and traffic to get it off the ground.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Hi, this is my first post but I've been building websites for a while. Personally I think you should forget about link building for SEO for now and focus on building a 'brand' within your niche. Off page SEO is not a shortcut like it used to be and if your niche is at all profitable you'll find it very difficult and delicate, taking up months of your time that could be spent elsewhere.

Depending on your target market you could start setting up social media pages and interacting with others in your niche. IM is tough and the number one reason new comers fail this year is because they lack appropriate social skills and content that fits their niche. If you can understand what is appropriate then you'll find getting social media traffic is a lot easier than getting to the top of Google.

Essentially Google has turned on small business and affiliate marketers due to endless spam and SEO isn't the best business model any more. My advice is to take any time you spend running bots and buying links and put that time into obsessing over your niche until you find out how to attract people naturally and find a sub-niche that you can dominate. That way you will end up at the top of Google for keyword phrases naturally but not have to rely on them.

    Just my thoughts.

I would strongly recommend using video as a way of getting traffic.

Build an authority YouTube channel around your niche and link back to your website.

Then create youtube videos by using the content on each of your pages in a slide show and provide links in your video back to your site.

Optimize and backlink your videos (tier 2 links) and bring in:

    a.) Targeted traffic and
b.) high PR links (from YouTube) to your website and subpages

    I hope this helps,

    Paul

this is great advise and you can scale take even further if you upload all these to other top video sites such as dailymotion, metacafe and vimeo

And on top if you make these presentations in pdf or ppt versions then you can go and upload them to sites like scribd, slideshare, myplick ect and get even more traffic

this is exactly the process i use for instant traffic spike

Do you have money to spend or are you doing this from scratch?

If you have money, PPC, Facebook ads, Directory of Ezines (Charlie Page), micro-niche magazines, joint ventures...

If you are doing this from nothing, social media, article marketing, video marketing, forum marketing, blog marketing, organic search engine rankings, joint ventures...

    There's plenty more.

Just using SE Nuke is not a traffic strategy. It's a source of backlinks. Which is only 1 piece to a huge puzzle called search engine optimization. You can't only have 1 piece to complete a puzzle and be rewarded the traffic.

There's at least 5 vital aspects of search engine optimization... keyword selection, site setup and optimization, site interaction, site activity, and a wide array of backlinks.

You have the wide array of backlinks down with SE Nuke. Now, start posting great content on your site and start getting people to comment on your stuff. Interact on Facebook... create a group... start talking to other people who are interested in your niche.

Submit articles to magazines, ezines, blogs, websites, newsletters, and even newspapers to get traffic to your site. This is not hard to accomplish... you just have to ask and provide awesome stuff.

It is a income and credit blog that I setup, so it is not for really affiliate marketing, but to grow traffic and for me to make the money off the traffic. It is an info site, more on building credit and manage debt.

    Another alternative...

    1) Getting traffic from Pinterest.
Just pin/ post your interesting pics from your site at Pinterest

    2) Post your articles at Scribd

    3) Forum posting.
Link the signature link to your website

    4) Paid traffic ( Adwords, Bing, FB, PoF, Buy Sell Ads, etc)

    5) Comment at other people's blog

    6) Create funny Youtube Videos

Yes, I was thinking about using Pinterest, yet I still do not know exactly what it is, or what it does. I just setup the Facebook and Twitter accounts. People are requesting friend or follower status. So I think it is growing slowly. Hence the reason for more ideas. As for Google, not too sure.. With their animal update variants, it seems they are moving away from organic search..

I am checking out the Directory of Ezines. Not exactly sure if that would help me with building a blog though. According to the video, it seems to be just that, a directory of ezines.

    Hi there,

I suggest going for direct media buys from targeted websites.
Not big websites, but ones with moderate traffic.

The advantage of doing this is that you can buy a spot for
an entire month, and not worry about tracking your ad spend
or conversion rates like when you purchase through an ad network.

You will also be able to get traffic quickly (almost instantly)...

And since whatever traffic you get from these sites will be targeted
traffic, assuming the content on your website is good, you can
hope your visitors will refer your website to some of their friends too.

    Take care,
    Dean.

Try Classified, you will find it's workable !

Yeh I say backlinks, youtube, facebook and classifieds and you can get quite a bit of traffic that way.

I know because I have NO IDEA what the hell I'm doing and a site I built 2 months ago is already getting 1400 steady views a month. I'm sure a good deal are bots, maybe all of them are (hopefully not), but at least the bots like the site so I'm happy.
    =]

All I know is it motivates me everytime I look at my google analytics. Once that traffic comes in and you see it you become compelled to just keep promoting more and more, and pretty soon I'm hoping I start to sell more stuff too.

Only made $40 online so far (totally different story offline) but one day I may figure out both.. who knows?
