Funny thing happened after i just sold my site..

I have been selling sites on flippa for quite a while, i just sold a site which was making earnings of 70-90 per month for the past 14 months for 900 dollars, the buyer doesn't yet have the site as his escrow wire transfer is still in process.

I don't know whether it was yesterday or day before yesterday but my site started getting triple the adsense earnings and triple the visitors, that's when i noticed all my keyword had dramatically improved and my main keyword improving from 11 to number 2 and i haven't done anything on the site in terms of seo and new content for the past 3 months..

If i sold the site now with the earnings of the past 2 days i would get triple of what i got now.. pretty sad, but just wanted to share this with you guys..

How do you know the buyer hasn't already started work on the site?

Because the auction ended 3 days back and his payment is still processing, i have transferred anything till now.

    Good for the buyer,
You should be happy too because at least your buyer will be happy with the site's immediate improvement in rankings and adsense as customer satisfaction is more than anything in Business. He will be more than happy to buy another site from you in future.

On the bright side, you have proof that you are capable of building an adsense and traffic success. This is something I will start doing once I become more knowledgeable about building sites and making them profitable. It is funny because I am sure the buyer would have griped had things gone in the opposite direction. It is very interesting that you had not added any content or seo for the last 3 months. Congrats on selling your site!

The reason your site is getting better ranking now may be the backlink from Flippa, this is quite possible.

I completed a site sale at over 10k (making 1+k month)2 days prior Penguin. All keywords dropped drastically and I'm guessing the site is getting 25% of its traffic now. I'm really sorry for the buyer but moral of the story is that: your site might as well dropped to oblivion the next time you check, so be happy about the sale because you are banking in on your site's future... And the future is highly uncertain!

Yeah i thought the same thing, but as i'm 17, have to head to college this year, so this will be my last made money on the internet, atleast until I finish studies.

Plus i can use this money and all the other money i made to get a car on instalments!

    Thanks guys for your replies.

    Cheers,

You over-delivered - that's great! If anything, it'll just get you more positive feedback.

This is good for the Buyer and also good for you too. Your buyer will be happy with the Buy and leave you a great feedback and he might come back for more sites in the future

Same thing happened to me too. The difference in my case is there was 3 more days before auction ended, so i managed to increase the price.

Business is all about relationship and trust, so, ensure you inform the buyer about this sudden increase and revenue and that you still intend to go ahead with the deal. Would make a great impression on the buyer.

    Thanks!

You don't know that the earnings of the past 2 days will continue and even if they do at least this means your buyer will be happy.

I've sold all kinds of websites and most of them went up in value after I sold them. I don't feel like I lost out because selling a site gave me a cash boost plus freed up my time to focus on something new.

If your buyer got a good deal then they are going to be more likely to purchase from you again in the future and that's good for business.

    • That's a heck of a coincidence.

Unless the buyer started buying up backlink packages on Fiverr the minute he won the auction and/or put the word out to his cronies he's got this great new AdSense site, not realizing the publisher-id is still yours. Or he already had a private blog network set up, ready to go.

Call me cynical but I don't really believe in coincidences.

Yea it happens. That's what makes buying sites a good deal for some people...especially when they do their due diligence.

It sucks that you missed out on being able to up the price. But your buyer will be pleasantly surprised and may choose to buy from you again if you do opt to continue flipping sites while in school. Heck, you may even be able to incorporate it into your sales pitch next time. Everyone loves a good deal.

Any business that is based on Google's whims has profits that may not be there tomorrow. All's well that ends well is I can say if your site has sold for a decent amount. The person who bought your site may not be that lucky not because there is any flaw in your site but because it may become a victim of Google's algorithm moves.

    Just saw these posts,

Fluffy I figured out google had made some algo changes within those days, the site hasn't lost any search engine positions and yeah I'm happy with it!

To be honest the past 2 years I used to give almost every bit of my time to the computer, got my returns by money and knowledge but messed up my social life.

I used to be on the computer 24/7 before but now once in 3 days or so. But hopefully when I'm done with my studies, will either go into Offline/Online business.
