Unique Article Writing Pays Off

So I've started to build my article writing and SEO services slowly and competing with overseas competitors has been tough. Ran a WF ad and got no hits and was a little frustrated...

But out of the clear blue, had a Dr's office webmaster email me and request a 1000 word article on plastic surgery. Told me to send a quote. Told him $75 and sent it via PP, was paid in 10 mins. Sent the artcile over the weekend and they loved it. Works to $.07/word or so and hopefully a future client if they want more.

Just showing that a little luck and some hard work pays off. Not expecting to land those types of articles all the time, but its a start.

Wow, $.07 a word is amazing. Did the doctor's office find you through your website? I'm still stuck on $.07 per word. Congrats!

been doing some postings on CL and BP sites under gigs/writing services. lead was out of the clear blue. was going to do 50 but $75 made more sense plus being a Dr's office, they have $$ to spend on content if needed.

Just more of a thought and positive thought post than anything. I've done a lot of .02/.03 word packages on DP and other sites but the bigger ones are out there.

I would love to make $75 from one article. I am currently running a special to try and entice new clients. Once I get a few new clients, I will more than likely raise my rates. I've posted a few ads on CL and BP, but I haven't gotten any bites yet from those ads.

$.07/word is a decent rate. But there's a much bigger lesson here. The OP sold this article to who? A doctor. Okay, but even that's not the point. It was sold to an offline enterprise. And guess what? Most traditional brick and mortar businesses EXPECT to pay writers what they're worth. What a concept, huh? Where should you be focusing your marketing?

Great job. It just shows that good paying writing work is out there.

In fact, I'd say you underbid, if anything. Many writers regularly earn $1 and up for their writing.

I'm not there yet, but I will be.

That's a very encouraging start, but the real trick is turning that initial success into more success. Go back to that client and offer free content for referrals. A happy client's recommendation carries a lot of weight. As also was pointed out above, focus your efforts where you find success. Reinvest that $75 into advertising where other small business owners hang out. Best of luck to you.

IMSince2003, that's a brilliant idea. On a monthly basis, I have some promos on my thread in the Warriors for Hire section for my writing services. My "up-to-50%-discount" is about to end this May 31 and I believe yours is a good idea to "inject" in my laid-out plans for the succeeding months. Thanks!

Here's something some of you might like to try. Go to the Offline marketing board and read through some of the posts. See who's out there making things happen. These folks are often setting up sites for offline businesses. See if you can JV with some of them as the "resident" writer. It's almost guaranteed you'll make more per word in that venue than schlepping around the online freelance sites.

Another thing that is almost an endless resource is to contact Web developers and make the same offer. That brings value to everyone concerned. The Web guy can now offer both design and content. There are literally millions of Web designers out there. You only need a handful to be as busy as you want to be. There are lots of ways to get paid well for your work.

Frankly I used yo pay 0.15 usd per word for finance but will
Not do that again as there is good enough people with Lower rate than that. So 0.07 per word can be achieved

There is a demand for well-writen, unique articles. The trick is getting your name out there and finding the buyer. In that regard, buying, selling, and writing articles is no different from anything else on the market.

    Congrats!
Have you tried freelance writing on websites such as Odesk? The jobs there are great, and the client's are always looking for native English speakers who can create unique content. Although over sea writers may cause a price competition, rarely do they write correct English and use correct American terms (no offense to them). Look into it, it's usually $3 for an easy 150 word article.

Well written articles is the only way if you want to build up a good reputation for yourself. Shoddy, rushed work always shows, and means your going to scratch around for a living in a niche you really should not be in. Cream always rises to the top.

Impressive! I've been wanting to venture into the offline field for the past few years, but just the thought of having to set up a face-to-face meeting with a client makes me nervous. I think I'll take a cue from you and put up a few local ads. It definitely seems worth it.
