Do you believe it's better to start a load of niche sites and work on getting them ranked and update with content, or create one $97 product and focus all your efforts on, say, selling 2 a day?

the concept of making massive numbers of sites all making $2 a day is a dying concept. That worked really well a few years ago with adsense. but when the SEO bubble took off, google's response was to keep changing the algorythm to make it hard for these sites to remain in business.

Thats not to say it can't work, but it is a dying method that is much harder today than it was a few years back.

in my opinion the best options are a content based authority site or a set of products that includes a freebie, a low end product, a mid range product, and a $97 ish dollar product.

Of course always focus on list building.

I tend to agree with David here.

Focus on one thing, maybe even one site.

It could be an authority site with a mass of related content. or a product.. anything like that. And start building a seed list for your product asap, possibly by creating a free offer first.

Spreading too thin and trying to deal with SEO on all those sites can be a nightmare.

The main thing you have to keep in mind and what kinda hinders a lot of people from succeeding online is not to chase every shine thing. Like patrick said just focus on one thing and keep going after that never looking back and you will succeed.

Product creation. Affiliate marketing is a lot tougher (although, of course, it's a lot cheaper)

Google is fickle...to say the least. This day in age, I would not start a business that was basically 100% reliant on getting organic traffic from Google search.

In my opinion, you would be better off focusing on selling a product to customers...whether they be your own product or affiliate products (a combination of the two is ideal).

Instead of trying to manage a bunch of small sites, I would recommend going into a highly-profitable niche that you have an interest in and plan on staying in for a while. Focus on building that up to an authority site.

Promoting a load of niche sites is a load of work! Stick with one good niche product and site.

I stongly recommend that you work on one site, get it ranked, profitable and automated before you move onto another one.

This is how you make more money too.

If you have one product (with upsell) get affiliates and a list built through that product you put yourself in a strong position. Then, when you produce your next product for that site and niche you already have a list to promote to and affiliates that will promote for you. This makes sense, yes?

Then it's possible for you to employ a ghost writer etc etc to create your next product for you to promote to your list and your affiliates. This is how many of the most successful IMers do business and it certainly works for me too.

Only at this point do I think you should move on to other things.

    Hey Kaplan,

I don't know your capacity, experience and other circumstances, like you are a one man show or have a team to manage your business. Also don't know the product you want to sell.

If you've a team, then you can manage lot of sites at the same time. If you are doing your business one person and not so experienced in this game, then it's advisable to build up an authority site in your niche.

As others said above, the big G makes sure that what had proven earlier, do not work now. G will love you, if your site focus on a particular market. You can do it on a way that you deal with the various topics and issues of that niche.

To succed, you need to know thoroughly...

    - your product (how it solves the problems of your audience)

    - your market (need to do proper market and comperitor research)

    - your audience (you should create your site to fit their needs)

Also helps to succed when you plan your activities, from point to point. You should keep in mind that the future of the site and your business will depend on actions based on your strategic planning.

So, with planning, design and continuously developing of your authority site you can to survive steps search engines are doing, not to mention you can enjoy a consistent money in your pocket as well.

    All the best,

    Sandor
