    Don't bother.

    Put it on flippa.com

You will get a better price 99% of the time and a much better response.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I second putting it on Flippa.

Though to answer your main question, yes, companies sometimes do buy websites, but you'll need to contact a lot of them to get any real potential buyers.

You'd get less on Flippa than from a real company - think about it.

    1. List your site at Flippa
    2. Contact the companies so your offer looks legit and you'll get more bids.
    3. Contact other web owners who have a website in the same niche with you
    4. Lead them to your Flippa auction

But, I think you should contact independent webmasters/ web owners rather than companies, they will be more interested to your offer.

Wish you success for your auction

Yes companies can buy, but the site has to satisfy them. It's better first let your buyer to price your site while you might have one in your mind.

It really depends on what niche you are in, what buyers (in terms of companies) are available, etc. It's possible you could sell your website to a big company in your industry for the kind of price normal businesses sell for, which is three to five years of revenue, not merely twelve months.

      "buy ..."
What we don't know is what comes after "buy". If you used a trademarked term, contacting the company might open a can of worms rather than resulting in profit.

there are many possibly way company may buy your website. You need to prepare platform to sold your website and the best way is to list it on flippa first.

I dont know how many company viewing flippa but flippa viewer reach average 3000 hit every time. There should be company guy in that number looking for website to buy.

Keep the design as professional as possible and list B.I.N offer something that local/offline business can get benefit with.

exp: B.I.N and I will distribute 1000 flyer in your chosen location.

Why shouldn't companies buy it if they are profitable for them. if you think your site will be profitable for them, then by all means contact them and let them see the stats with a trial run. You will get your client soon.

i would do both , list it at flippa and contact the companies . I think a company it's rather goying to pay you more then a average joe.....
Try them all , chose the best price and negociate h3h3 if the site is targeting a specific keyword that the company has are ranking then be greedy , ask for more

big companies do buy website properties. Some of them actively seek out strategic investments, but others are very willing to purchase a site if it has value to them or their business even when they were not actively looking to buy a site/business.

I have been lucky enough to sell a couple of sites/business to big(ish) companies in my days. As others have stated, generally big companies can and will pay more for a site. Especially those who have stock market money to play with.
