If Facebook's IPO continues to do so terribly, do you think they'll close? Or become the next MySpace?

This makes me wonder if the basics of Social Network Marketing will start to change.

As long as there are users, Facebook will not go down. Myspace and Hi5 went down because people shifted to Facebook.

I think it will go down soon, especially if they start to have competition from another site!

Not seeing it close also. I think it's gotta take something bigger than Google PLus or even twitter to replace facebook.... Assuming that Mark Z won't buy both.

Facebook is still profitable. For business purposes, this IPO is really not a big deal.

Just to add some perspective here. June of last year Myspace was sold for $35 Million. As recent as August of 2011 it had over 33 million unique visitors that month. And as of Dec. 2011 it was ranked 138th most visited site on the internet.

When compared to FB or what Myspace once was... the numbers look small. But when we consider the unique visitors on their on... or the ranking on it`s on... Myspace is far from finished. Will the new owners turn it around for a great comeback, or cause it to lose ground further is yet to be seen. But to date, far from finished.

FB is the King at the moment, and no time soon will it go away. How it fares from now depends on the owners decisions, what new sites come out and what is popular, but FB is going to be with us awhile.
      Mark

So in your opinion Facebook won't close. However, if another site makes a good effort, then Facebook will close.

So by your reasoning, Google Plus isn't making an effort yet?

I doubt it, but they sure better get their act together. Perhaps this will be the incentive they need to innovate and restructure.

Facebook will loose some members I think. There are a few reasons behind that:

    1-google owns Android that took over Apple last year with more smartphones sold and Google has its own social network that is constantly growing thanks to the integration with android phones;
2-Apple is working on its own social network (so strange...someone could say that apple is copying android..again). I have no idea when it will be released, I just read the news a few weeks ago on an apple blog
3-There are many social networks growing like Pinterest or Instagram-that uploads your pictures instantly and shares them with the world.

Everything is dedicated to the mobile industry at the moment Facebook has to do something about it. They are constantly introducing new features that people don't like so much.

Personally I was/still using facebook for the pictures, to upload them, keep them somewhere online and share them with others but now, google+ uploads them instantly from my phone without I even know that is doing it and then lets me choose if I want to share them or not. Simmilar things with instagram. So..for the pictures was beaten, for the news or chat? Twitter is taking over it from that point of view so... They have to do something and I'm pretty sure they will

One funny thing that happened and it made me like google+:

4-5 month ago my phone was stolen and with it all my pictures, contacts, everything.

When I got a new android phone, I just wanted to see how google+ looks like since I never really used it constantly and I found all my pictures there, also the videos. I was the happiest person in the world. That made me like google+ over facebook

There is still a lot of potential in facebook. I don't like it but I can understand the affect it has over the net. Think about it – it's easier to ask people u "know" questions than to search answers in Google. This is the true power of facebook in my opinion.
As long as there are mass users, the facebook affect is still strong.
