I'm thinking about making a website for rich guys. I'll show the very best of the best products for everything from watches to sporting goods. I think alot of people will buy from my site, but also alot of people will browse it looking for the cutting edge products. I just need to learn how to create a fancy high class website.

You can outsource it at a freelancing site. What's your budget?

You are very creative mind and I know what you mean - like a high end online store for the rich.

However, how do you define "rich guys"? How do you find them, or how do they find you site?

Sounds good in theory, but is it realistic?

To target "rich guys" is like targeting all the "overweight men" in the world. It's impossible.

To succeed online you have to find a very specific niche and dominate it.

    All the best.

In my opinion this is a inetersting, but unreal idea.
If this works you would have good profit, sell only 2-3 products per day and you are rich, heh.
But are people buying expensive stuff from the Internet? If yes, than you are a rich man

A fancy high class website for rich guys, doable. One traffic method I could think of is banner or display ads in online mens magazine.

I don't like the idea personally. This is something I think every marketer has considered doing at least once in their lifetime and I think you will have VERY stiff competition, and the important point here is you can find MUCH better ideas than this.

I completely "get" the idea of targeting according to the customer demographics rather than strictly according to the niche, but I still think you need to narrow it down.

Rich people who want watches look at watch sites. Rich people who want sports equipment look at sports websites. Not so much at "rich people's websites".

However, there are certainly niches (and some of them not nearly so competitive as the ones you've mentioned) which attract only rich people. (Private jet charter/sharing/hiring?).

One of the things to look out for, with this kind of marketing, is whether people actually order online, or research online and buy elsewhere (including by phone). Considerations about "how reliably you get paid" and "how the tracking works" are essential and fundamental, with this kind of marketing ...

That's the easy part (which, as mentioned above, you can always outsource). Worry about receiving and collecting the payments you've earned from your marketing.

You are definitely not the first one to come out with this idea, in fact there are sites out there for this kind of subjects, maybe you can try to earn on Adsense instead of selling stuffs.

I can understand targeting a specific demographic of buyers, but how do you plan to find them? Do you have a marketing plan in place? I tend to find that those with the money to buy whatever it is they want tend to walk into a store and purchase it because they want it right that moment. It could work who knows but I suggest doing some research into that demographic.

Somewhere in a ghetto someone is saying "I think I'll create a blog for middle class people that want to buy middle class things!" Think that would work?

Building around a financial position just too generic of an idea. I know because I've attempted to run two luxury lifestyle sites in the past several years and both of them crashed and burned.

The first was very random. I would spotlight high end products. It ended up being too random in that viewers interested in the post about the new Rolex didn't care about the next post on a 70 inch TV. Another thing is that being so random means that you aren't really an authority on anything.

The second site was about luxury vacation spots. What I found out there is that the people willing to shell out huge money on vacations aren't interested in sites essentially saying "Here are your vacation options around the world." They already know where they want to go and are looking for very specific info on their list of potential destinations. I changed things up and tried to provide that, but ultimately it wasn't worth the time I was putting into it. And as with any travel site, monetization through airfare and hotel is difficult because of traffic leaks and researchers that may not buy until months from now.

Definitely important to find a crowd and stand in front of it, however you should look at a business system that has been proven to work with the crowd.

If your sole basis is to find a market that is not being serviced, or a market that has high ticket products, then you are really increasing your chance of failure.

Why not select a business/product in a market that you see doing really well and do it better? You can still be creative and unique, but your chances of success are greatly increased, and you can learn a lot of lessons that the existing businesses have already paid for.

There are already a ton of sites providing that service. If you want you can still go and do it though.
