Getting Traffic. Getting Clicks. Sales Are Dry. Need Help.

Hey guys thanks for taking the time to read. I want to fill you in on my latest project.

Tee Battle

It's a fun little site I made that works off of affiliate marketing. I am basically selling the tees and the orange buttons that say "shut up and take my money" are the affiliated links.

I need a little help guys. The site is 20 days old. I have gotten close to 12,000 visitors (and climbing) so nice amount of traffic.

Affiliate link clicks have also been rolling in big time recently. I am not 100% sure but I think I've gotten close to 1000 clicks.

The problem is sales. I am barely getting any conversion. I have maybe had 3 transactions over all those clicks. Can you guys give me some advice to help me with this last part? I just need to figure out how to turn all this traffic into $$$.

    phew, it is exactly the kind of site I would never buy anything from, I only didn't click "close tab" coz I was reviewing the site for this post

    probably something psychological going on, can't help more than that

      But at the same time the website isn't scary enough to stop people from clicking or voting.

      What do you think they are scared of?

    I think you need a bit more bling on the page .. spruce it up .. eye candy etc ..

    Something shat says to the viewer .. "oooo .. thats cool .. Ill click that"

      People are clicking, that's not the issue. It's that once they go to the site where they can buy the shirt, they aren't buying.

    I agree they would click .. but I think you would get a better conversion if you maybe displayed something that said get your busted tees here .. or what ever for each affiliate link .. so they know what to expect .. e.g. .. mindset: ive clicked .. and thought .. ahh its to buy a tee .. but I dont need a tee .. [ user leaves site ]

      Actually I have thought about that. Maybe by letting them know what exactly is going on it would make the site feel a little less spammy.

      Is this paid traffic or search engine traffic? If it's paid your targeting might not be ideal, and if it's via SEs you're probably just not offering what they go to your site looking for.

    Try to focus on making your website more appealing to potential visitors.

    What desire brings people to your site? are they looking for t-shirts? I'm not sure what brings people there in the first place so it is hard to say.
    Ok besides that, biggest thing I didn't like: After I vote, I'm off your site basically. I don't know what to do next other than comment! If they don't have anything to comment on really, next thing people will do it close the window I would think or click away, that is where the other 11000 people who didn't click the affiliate link are probably going. Yes they could hit the back button, but why when they already voted? Changing that might get more affiliate button clicks, which would help increase those few sales a little.
    However as you said your conversion is low. It all comes down to whether they are looking for the tshirt in question. You click the two buttons, to buy either of those two shirts, but think about at any given time, does your visitor want one of those two tshirts? Yes, they can continue to browse the affiliate website and buy another tshirt, but again going back to my very first question, was this visitor looking to buy tshirts in the first place?

    I think you should try to get some good backlinks and do some forum promotions. That would help you a lot to get views and traffic for free. I do recommend that you have a decent SEO campaign running for long term results.
