Warrior Forum Traffic - What's the Real Story?
A few days ago, I noticed a figure of over 125,000 active users and within hours that number died down to around 20k active users.
It's interesting to note that when the active user count was as high as 125,000+ and then back to normal levels (around 20k), the logged in "members" count constantly hovered around 6,000 (range).
Was it a DDos attack perhaps? Any thoughts?
On the forum main page under 'What's Going On', the 'most users ever online' count seems to be from the same time period I am referring to.
Here's what it exactly says:
"Most users ever online was 137,414, 05-24-2012 at 04:10 PM"
Forum is a source of livelihood for many folks and forum traffic (along with expertise of fellow members) makes it a really valuable place for many of us.
So, that begs the question, how important forum traffic numbers, especially 'logged in members' numbers really are?
Do 'you' give (currently logged in) forum traffic numbers any consideration before launching a WSO, bumping a thread or conducting other activity?
I'm getting intrigued to a point where I'm thinking of precisely monitoring (by automated means of course) forum traffic numbers every hour for about a week and then plotting a graph to see how wild the traffic fluctuations are and what times of the day and which days of the week the highest and lowest (logged in) user count is.
We all have a general idea about when the active user count is highest or lowest, but Warrior Forum is a constantly changing place with members joining from all parts of the globe all the time, so information needs to stay current.
When launching a WSO, a question that is often asked is 'what is the best time to launch a WSO?'. Having read up on that in various posts, I found varying answers to that question by different users. No one seemed to know a whole lot with a certain degree of accuracy about forum traffic.
Perhaps actual traffic numbers gathered every hour for an entire week can help make more informed decisions regarding WSO launches and thread bumping etc?
A quick note: When I speak of traffic numbers, the real count I'm interested in is registered forum members as they weigh heavily in product purchases and other important forum activity.
So would exact forum traffic numbers gathered every hour over the course of an entire week (or two weeks) be valuable information for some of us? If valuable, would it be valuable enough to merit a WSO?
I look forward to your thoughts.
It's all about the money...
