Your favorite split testing software and why...

GO!

(There's always hype on sales pages...
so I highly value Warrior's personal opinions
on their favorite/preferred method of split testing).

I think the best one is Split Test Accelerator.

It is quite pricey but should pay for itself hundreds of times over if you put it to use. I'm going to be investing in it soon.

Kenneth, while I truly appreciate your willingness to cooperate with this topic, I'm quite weary of the credibility of your statement that Split Test Accelerator is the BEST because it sounds like you haven't even tried it yourself yet.

I will sincerely appreciate input based on user's first-hand experience(s) with split testing software/scripts. Afterall, most of you pros ARE testing/tracking your results, right?

How come your weary? It was a two word statement.

I've done my due diligence used several scripts and my next two projects will be launched using STA which is available in a 3 part payment plan.

The creator of the script is very sharp and has a lot of really insightful nuggets on extracting as much value from split-testing as soon as possible.

I've used Kaizentrack and didn't like it too much because of the interface and the poor English.

Google Web Optimizer is a good place to start but only does multi-variant, not taguchi testing which slows it down.

I've tried Affiliate Prophet and wasn't that impressed. Seemed to have tracking issues and overly plays up the time on page factor.

My advice is use GWO build up your funds and then get STA.

Also, it ain't just me. On the Copywriters Board there are several highly respected Copywriters raking in cash who swear by it.

Hope this reply doesn't weary you!

    Thanks, Kenneth!

EDIT: For those that are not sure where to start w/ split testing on a budget, you can start with Google Website Optimizer for free.

...so I've spent some time today researching different split testing services & software. One thing I noticed they all have in common is the way they track sales conversions. They do this by using a "thank you" type of page the customer lands on after completing an online purchase.

The problem: When you're an affiliate, the customer never lands on any of your pages towards the end of the sale. How are you supposed to track this as an affiliate with these types of split-testing softwares since there is no available "landing/thankyou" page for us to set as our "conversion/landing/sales-trigger" page in the various split testing software(s)/services available?

Even Google Website Optimizer seems to operate this way.

Am I completely missing something here or is it difficult to really track your ClickBank sales conversions with split testing software/scripts as an affiliate?

P.S. I'm not ready to spend $1,000 on Split Test Accelerator yet.

P.S.S. I realize I can track my CB TID conversions with CB's Analytics. I'm talking about SPLIT-TESTING CB product sales as an affiliate.

9 days later, is there anyone around that can recommend good split testing software that doesn't cost a grand?

P.S. If you're going to say Google Website Optimizer, I agree it's cool - but when it comes to tracking Clickbank conversions it can't be used because of the "conversion page" issue I mentioned in the previous post.

    I will appreciate your thoughts/comments/feelings/suggestions.

      Hey Emmanuel,

I've been using various split testing scripts and services
for a while and will give you my top 3 picks.

      Best Overall: splittestaccelerator.com
I know you already stated that you were not ready to
spend this kind of cash yet but in my opinion, this is the
most complete and valuable scripts I have in my online toolbox.

I've owned this script since version one and when it was half
the cost it is now and can say without a doubt that the data
collected for my many websites have saved me a ton of time
testing and made me some good coin.

      Pick #2: easymultitracking.com
This is another excellent script from fellow warrior Michael Humphreys.
It has a less painful price tag compared to STA but you really can't
compare the two as STA is way ahead of the game when it comes to
      Taguchi multi variant testing.

      Pick #3: splittestaccelerator.com/free_mvt_course.php
A simple A/B split testing script that is free and also includes
some excellent training on split testing. This is by the same creator
of my number one pick above.

      I hope that helps

    Hi,

for split testing affiliate offers you can firstly test to maximise the clicks to the merchant sales page. While this is not the same as to a real sale you get improvements very much faster since you get 40-200 times more actions.

You can do this by using a javascript onclick action or an intermediate redirect page that supplies the action. In this case you can use Google Website Optimiser.

If you want to optimise to the final sale then you pretty much have to use subids, which work fine for this application. (unless you have the ability to place a "pixel" on the merchants thank you page - which is sometimes possible with CPA type networks)

However, you have to download the sales/subid report from the network and feed it into your test software. (which can also track keywords, etc so you know which are making sales)

But, I don't know of any commercially available software available that will do this for affiliates of clickbank.

By the way, in my opinion, Taguchi and other fractional factorial testing systems are not really any "faster" at getting to the best result. You can get the same information out of a full factorial test quite easily, just as quickly. (and in fact Taguchi, etc may well miss out some more complex interactions - that could be important).

    Straight-forward split-testing?

    Reasonable price-tag?

Reliable tracking, with ability to classify as "unsure/unattributed"?

    Special TIDs?

Can't go past PowerSplitTester in my opinion.

    Best,
    TheNightOwl

P.S. You need to be testing php pages or html pages with an .htaccess rewrite that allows you to run php calls and includes on them.

P.P.S. I can't recommend Paul Hancox's stuff highly enough. And I thank Paul Myers for originally putting me onto his reports. The man produces TOP NOTCH stuff. I hope this script is what you're looking for.

      Another vote for PST.

      Why?

Easy to install and setup. No SQL required. Not to mention it's value for money. If that's not enough, Paul Hancox's customer service is top notch. He replies his own emails and he does it promptly.

About the Split Test Accelerator and Clickbank . . .

You can add TIDs automatically to your links and feed them back into STA. STA will then know which version of the page each customer saw, and break down the split testing results for each factor for you, and link it up with all the referral data -- like keywords, domain, etc.

It seems some software look at time spend on a site as a way of testing without too many hits. Anyone like to comment on this method of split testing?

My favorite is Split PST as it allows us to reduce the size of our Outlook files & saves our data from the fear of corruption.
