Private Label Rights - Help!

Hi Warriors

At the moment I am re-writing and adding to a niche PLR eBook. Now I want to make this into a perceived completely new product - ie. I will change the title, and write a totally new sales page for it.

I want to put it on Clickbank, get JV's with partners etc etc - basically do all the usual new product launch stuff.

Now the eBook will be a high quality product - of that I have no doubt - and I am adding/rewriting the information I have (but it still takes the same format as the original, so if you had access to both you could probably figure out what it is based upon)

So my question is how different does the new version have to be from the original PLR in order for me to sell it as a completely new product? The only thing that is worrying me slightly is what happens if people buy the book and discover that they have already read the PLR original? From the sales page they wouldn't know that it was anything to do with the original eBook.

I know this is a widely used technique, but just wanted a little advice from Warriors.

Thanks

Use the original as a starting point, but be sure to add your own value. Make it something that if you were the purchaser and you held PLR rights to the same source, you would still feel that you derived additional benefit from your purchase.

I've written an eBook on the subject (PLR Profit Strategies) and will soon be offering it for sale. Send me a PM and I'll let you have a preview copy at no charge.

    Hi Dan

Most of the recommended rewrite percentage I have heard is around 30%. But, if you don't want it perceived as rehashed or surprise a customer with something they feel they've already read, I would push that as far as I could. I have rewritten some to the point that you cannot tell what the original was. Rearrange the paragraph styles and rewrite as much as you can.

I've had the experience of downloading 3 different products on the same subject and finding they were all rewrites of the same original. Just rewriting for wording and style is not enough, IMO: if the customer is not going to feel "taken" there has to be substantial additional information.

You can rewrite it as much or as little as you want.

          Hi guys

Thanks for the replies - I really appreciate it.

I've just read back what I have so far and then re-read the original, and it's looking pretty good, so I think I have answered my own question

          Thanks again

          Dan
Ps. Robin - nice to see you here on the Warrior forum. I don't tend to pop in perhaps as often as I should!

            Dan,
Aside from merely rewriting the original product you could also include some additional features that increase the overall value of the product. Such as:

1 - Making the product into an MP3

2 - Adding some videos that demonstrate some of the finer points of the product

3 - Perhaps interview an expert on the subject matter and include it with your product

4 - write another smaller report and include it as a bonus

5 - Perhaps add a few mind maps

Those are just a few ideas that hopefully help you out. I'm confident that if you rewrite the original product (making it better then before), add some new graphics and combine that with one or two of the ideas above you will have a winning (meaning profitable) product on your hands.

            Respectfully,
            Tim

Always nice to see you as well. I've been hanging out here awhile Daniel. I'll be glad to review/compare the original and the rewrite for you if you need someone to do that. PM me here on WF or e-mail me.
