how to monetize this site with more then 4k/mon. viewers

Hi guys,

I have a site that´s more for my wife, dedicated to sell home made sweets (small cakes, big cakes, deserts, etc) , its in Portuguese Language

It´s an e-store and locally focused it had a decent income, but when the crisis arrived here not even with adwords with localized advertisment it converts in sales.

The site is fantastic because all the traffic comes from 1-2 keywords that are in #1 or #2 spot in Google / Yahoo (portuguese and .com), we are talking about 3.000 to 4.000 monthly viewers from only organic traffic only.

So my question is, how can i monetize this site so she can have some extra income.

here is the website if you want to look at:
Doces & Salgados Caseiros

thanks for all the feedback
#4k or mon #monetize #site #viewers

Think about featuring some discount food/drinks maybe, affilate products obviously.

What was the crisis? I would redesign the layout. It's too busy. Make it simpler. Get on Holey Donuts list and see how they are marketing their baked goods. That alone will help you. Secondly, give the site more character. A story about how your wife or whoever makes the goods, and the care taken to prepare them is also helpful.
Build your list using a form. I would offer a coupon as a test. In our salon business I had two lists. One offered a free mini course, the other was a coupon. The coupon offer was by far the big winner. But a free mini course on baking is a good idea for you too. You may think that by teaching them how to bake they won't buy your stuff, but it works.
    Offer free shipping.
Write an eBook with recipes in it. Sell it on Amazon. And then offer it for free to people who spend a certain about ($25-50?).
There's a lot you can do with that site. If was converting before you should be able to get it up and running again.

To Morg: Here's the thing. The economy is throwing a bitch fit, and this is completely beyond your control. And that's fair enough.

First off, what are the demographics of the people who are visiting your site? If they are not buying, it means 3 things:

      1) They're NOT your target market
      2) The cakes are just not being position well enough - I can't tell you what may or may not be wrong because I don't know Portuguese
      3) They price range is way, way too high (or conversely, too low)

So here's what you should do. Don't focus on the "what should I do to monetize" mindset. Instead, focus on what these people coming to your site want.

The idea is to provide something of value. And the only way you're going to do that is by finding out what they want.

Seriously... Statistics (i.e. monthly traffic levels) don't mean a damn thing UNTIL you're providing the target audience with what they want.

So what you could do is set up a survey of sorts (there are free platforms) and ask them specific questions. After this, act accordingly.

Traffic does not translate to money. Providing value does.

        Prashant,

        Thanks for you feedback,

        About your vision and mine

basically what cutted the sales were the crisis , because in this region probably on the last 6 months - 12 months the unemployment rate increased 30-50%, Nationalwide about 15-20%, so since the business is Local i have an issue with conversions.

Then the quality of the good are very high and the price range is very good for the quality, but of course if people want to buy a cake for really cheap will go to the supermarket and buy a very low quality cake a bit cheaper, not much to be honest, so i believe the price tag is not the issue.

        Then Demographics:
Well we have about 50% from Portugal and 50% from USA since the SEO is replicated to all search engines and USA rank as well as the PT.

        About the traffic:

I have a survey about how the traffic come in: Google, Sapo (PT search engine), Recommendation, etc Probably i will change to check if the audience prefer a cheaper pricing, lower quality, etc.

        Thanks,
        Morg

All these ideas seems to be quite interesting, i will need to have that list probably with food Discounts and some offers.

About the crisis here in Portugal six months ago the financial crisis slapped in many families, so the unemployment arise up to 20% plus many wages cuts, etc,etc... in the end people has an very little income to spent in this kind of products at least in my city.

But i will try these suggestions.

      Thanks,
      Morg

You could monetize it with AdSense and other free things. That's worked well for me.

Try to boost your traffic through many of the traffic generating strategies preached here by warriors such as attracting social media fans, building bigger list by giving freebies on your site, and so on. Employing some of this tactics would surely improve sales. All the best !
