Thank you so much and congratulations for the 10k post.

This particular section caught my attention. It shows that the succes fundamentals have not changed and are not likely to change because of the web.

Success comes as a result of working hard. Sometimes for long hours and sometimes without any assurance of a breakthrough. The market place pays for value. Anyone hungry for success must work hard to produce value. The bigger the value the more the millions that will flow to an individual's bank account.

You get something like 25 per 24 hours (not sure if that's official). Bill Platt and I can tell you all about running out .

Yes, you get a maximum of 20 thanks to give per day ... but it works on a "rolling" basis, not on a 24-hour clock.

Great post Mike. You the man. I have been buying your stuff for several years and the products are always quality.

But you know what stands out about you the most for me is that when I once sent in a support ticket you where the one that answered and you took the time to help me out with a few things relating to the product. You cared...

I expected you to have outsourced all your support to people that didn't really know the product in depth. But the fact you answered yourself really stuck with me. I am not saying that you should answer all your own support tickets, since it might not be the most productive thing to do with your time but the personal touch left a mark on me, and this about 2-3 years ago.

    Cheers for being old school...

This stood out to me (and took me a decade to find despite a gazillion re-reads). The folks starting out; the folks experiencing lukewarm success; the folks not quite succeeding yet... The internet is not a magical fountain of wealth. It's a medium of business. Once you understand this, you'll be able to put a lot of things into perspective.

An online business doesn't come down to having a

    1) Product
    2) Squeeze Page
    3) Sales Letter
    4) Traffic Source
    5) Paypal Account

An online business, just like an offline one, is all about providing value to your target market. Unlike an offline one though, you're able to reach out to a much larger audience.

But fundamentally, the idea is to provide value and build credibility.

I also loved (and completely agree with) the bit on authority sites becoming the future. It's very congruent with the basis for conducting business.

Thank you for the very informative thread and for taking the time to post here 10,000+ times to share your knowledge.

Why? Because the future of business online (in terms of SEO) is going to be wrapped up into single, authority sites that will centralize all of your business activities. Most people online are far better off investing in the long-term development of a single, highly branded website where they will focus all their energies.
^^^ That right there helped me a lot and will determine how I proceed in the future.

Congrats and a sincere thank you.

Awesome post on many levels, Mike. I hope those trying to get a start in this business are smart enough to read it over and over until they "get" every single point. Now that would be a great headstart for them.

I just want to comment about a few points you made to re-emphasize them. Sometimes when a post is so good, as this one is, it is easy to miss some of the good stuff.

Originally Posted by BIG Mike View Post

This can't be overlooked. So many poeple are burning bridges rather than building them, I wonder if they'll ever succeed. The networking is one of the most important benefits of being a member here. Treat others well, you never know who might be a valuable ally later.

My first bit of advice for those just starting out or struggling in business is to stop chasing after the quick scores and focus on sustainable, long-term strategies to grow into the success you want.
Jackpot! I've seen people try to score big and do it fast, and years later they are still trying for the quick score. In the time they have wasted trying to score the big one, they could have built a solid business. Often, the slowest way to succeed is to try to succeed all at once.

... the future of business online (in terms of SEO) is going to be wrapped up into single, authority sites that will centralize all of your business activities.
      Another bulls-eye!

As you know, this has been my primary business model for 15 years. It not only pays off in the ways you cited, but it let's you build a good mailing list without even trying. I'm sure most people reading this understand how valuable that is.

User Experience - those two words are what the web are all about today and will be in the future. Your visitors need good reasons to bookmark your site and come back again and again - so find ways to give them those reasons.
Another homerun! I'd just like to add this this applies to email marketing too. Too many list owners provide a loser experience instead of a good user experience. Subscriber list fatigue, list burnout, whatever you want to call it, is caused mostly by the list owner's email strategies, or lack of having one. The fix is simple -- examine the user experience your email marketing creates.

You made a lot of other great points too, Mike. Excellent post, congrats on 10,000, and thank you for all words of wisdom over the years.

I like how you pointed out that both business and the Internet are dynamic and change constantly - and those changes are affecting us new Internet marketers more than ever.

This alone I think is enough to throw off many newcomers but is something that definitely needs to be said. At the end of the day though, the Internet is moving towards better user experiences on the whole - and this makes people who are just getting started focus on creating quality content rather than on quantity.

I think this evolution if the net will be good for people in the long run - even if it means we have to work a little harder and persevere a little more when it comes to building our online businesses.

      Mike...

...we haven't always seen eye to eye over the years, probably both too strongly opinionated for our own good at times but I've always enjoyed reading your threads on the quiet and I've gained a lot from them.

So always know you're appreciated as a person. You've contributed a hell of a lot to this forum, you've put us (myself especially) straight more than a few times and truth be told, if it's advice coming from you... I look forward to similar exchanges in the future.

I'd rather have one or two of guys (and ladies) like you any day of the week over a hundred newbies that quite frankly don't know what they're talking about half the time.

It's guys like you that make the rest of us sit up up straight and think, "Hmmm he might just have a point here, what can I learn from these words?"

Thanks for being you. I for one wouldn't want to have you any other way.

Straight talking personified telling the rest of us exactly how it is. And even though I've been in business for over 31 years since I was 14 years old, pushing my cleaning equipment around the streets on an old 1970's perambulator (literally) - it's people like you that can still teach an old dog new tricks. New ways of looking at things.

Thanks for molding me and helping me at times to adjust my own attitude which admittedly has been a little colorful at the best of times. Undoubtedly at times, I needed it.

I also wrote this thread quite a while ago which in a similar vein one or two here might enjoy reading...

Solid advice from someone who's been in the trenches. I wish a lot of newcomers to this business would take the whole post to heart, especially this part:

My first bit of advice for those just starting out or struggling in business is to stop chasing after the quick scores and focus on sustainable, long-term strategies to grow into the success you want.

No one succeeds overnight, no matter how wildly popular their ideas are. Google took nearly 8 years to dominate the search engine market, FaceBook took 4 years for Social Media and believe it or not, Apple took nearly 30 years to become the powerhouse they are today.
I joined this forum after BIG Mike did (he was registered long before his current incarnation), but I have seen his posts over the years and I've seen him give back to this community both publicly and behind-the-scenes. Definitely one of the good guys and unofficial leaders of this medium-sized, dynamic city called the Warrior Forum.

When I first got started I would visit the forum as a guest and I had always found many of his posts very helpful during my own IM journey. I would definitely heed his advice. Lot's of wisdom there.

Wow, that was touchy Mike. Am not only happy to see your long standing effort payoff but glad i was here to read your motivative thread once more. I feel like closing my laptop, sit down and have a rethink, re-strategize again and again.

I am strongly an advocate of long term business builder, there is no point wanting to tap traffic from SEO or other forms when you don't have the SAY. Tyrant can wake up any moment with a whip and that goes your income again. I know a lot of people doing white hat SEO that lost their rankings/income just that they are not admitting openly on WF.

Wish your speedy recovery and long life, you surely gonna be here and we are surely going to benefit from our mutual exchange of ideas.

A lot of people that i know in the past when i first joined or later on are no longer here and active. I wish you can mention or probably WF create a page or thread or something to update us of any big loss.

    God bless.

Thanks for clearing the air Big Mike. You are so right about the fluidity of the medium we use, it's very tricky underfoot, you have to watch your step. I too had about a hundred websites up, did them all in Notepad in HTML, now only a handful.

The advice about concentrating on an authority site and building that is so redolent of the big hitters I have read on this forum and elsewhere, the 'authority' sites are the way to go.

If you ever read the book by Napolean Hill - "Think And Grow Rich" - he interviewed so many billionaires and wrote about the common denominator he came across with all of them and that is summed up in a word - "persistence!"

Mike, first off, congratulations on your 10K posts and on your success online. I
didn't know about your recent health issues. I'm glad you're still with us. You're
right, we've lost many good people here.

I know we've had our differences, but I couldn't be happier for what you've
accomplished, especially coming from the background that you did. I'm truly
      impressed.

I hope everybody struggling really takes the time to write what you did because
it is dead on the money. In fact, if I had it to do all over again, I would be
taking your advice and just build one authority site instead of doing the things
I did the past 9 years.

But that's all water under the bridge. And as I now prepare for retirement, I
hope that others have learned from my mistakes and won't make the same
ones. I did okay, but I could have done a lot better and I know it. I spread
myself too thin and didn't take advantage of the assistance I could have
gotten from others. Oh well, you live and learn.

I wish you only the best for the future. I know this may sound really crazy,
but if you ever want to talk, I'm here. I have a lot of time on my hands these
days not working much anymore so a chat is always welcome.

Take care, and here's to another 12 years and another 10,000 posts.

      Truly inspirational post, Mike!

Not only do you share some of the most solid advice for internet marketers at any stage, but you also show the man behind the words. If one has any talent in reading between the lines, they would glean that hard work and being persistent alone won't lead to success, however blending those things with openness, honesty, and the true desire to help others along the way is what makes the winning recipe.

Thank you, congratulations and wishes for continued success!

I'm completely jealous of the 10K post. Here I'm laying on my death bed having to use my right pinkie to type out this post and its taking me 2 days to get this far. Big Mike I need you to finish this post for me as I'm now gasping for breath. :p

Better yet just have Paul Myers transfer your post count over to me so I can look like a real poster in the WF. Oh wait I forgot Greece won't let you transfer anything out of the country.

    Enough joking around.

Big Mike (or as I affectionately call him BDA, loosely translated means Big Dumb Ass ) is one of several I decided to follow when I joined the WF back in 2005. Even his post that were contentious and controversial made good sense the vast majority of the time. On more than one occasion he called out those that were outright frauds and just flat did not know what they were talking about.

I really hate to sound like I'm sucking up to him, but I have to tell you guys without him my online money making days would never have happened without his and other warriors. He drove the point home to me that a business, is a business regardless if its online or a brick and mortar business.

For all your new folks one of the primary lessons you can take away from this thread is to find a warrior you can trust, evaluate what they have to say and apply their advice to your business.

Mike I have thanked you in more than one of your threads and now publicly I say Thank You. Stay real BDA.

    Ken

Of all the GOLD in this post, I think this one's the biggest nugget!

I've had the opportunity to discuss, argue and downright fight with some of the most intelligent, successful people online over many of the most interesting (and sometimes the silliest) issues of the time.
And isn't that what makes this forum so uniquely fascinating?!

Let me take this opportunity, Mike, to say a HUGE big 'Thank you' for
all that you've shared and taught Warriors over this time, and the
outstanding products you've created that helped so many of us run our
online ventures more comfortably and smoothly.

Here's looking forward to your NEXT 10,000

    All success

Hopefully you take this the right way. How much of a "Freebie" do you want? You have more nuggets in his original post that may well put more money in your pocket than you could even dream about.

I suggest you go back read the original post and take what it has to say to heart. IMO follow that advice and you will succeed.

    Congrats Mike!

I dont think i've had much dialouge with you directly but i'll be sure to keep my eye out on your posts for the future as you seem to know what you are talking about and arn't afraid to say it!

I hope your health is doing well - Get some of that Greek sun and olive oil into ya, its good for you'r soul!

The bits from your post that I got the most out of where when you talked about making 1 million online with the help of the warrior forum and how your first WSO did 1k a day. And of course the part where you said "Organic traffic will follow without the need to spend all your time developing backlinks, writing articles or any of the other silly crap people do these days. Use that one site to develop a variety of revenue streams to avoid putting all of your eggs into one basket. "

    Thats gold right there!
