100,000 FB Fans - 3,000 Unique Visits

I just recently hit 100,000 Facebook fans on one of my many Facebook pages and thought it was interesting to share.

For one, it took me almost EXACTLY 1 year to reach this goal. Which to me is amazing because I didn't think I'd be at this level within 1 year.

It's now June 6th, 2012 and I've managed to keep my fans interactive on the page, constantly pushed them to visit new sites I create, I've made a lot of money from them using almost every method possible. And I've learned a few amazing things.

Here's a few things that I learned from MY fans. This doesn't relate to every Facebook page on the internet or Facebook in general, just the fans that I accumulated.

What I Learned

1. My fans love to click the like button on images more than videos.

2. They vote aggressively, which made me think about sending them to polls that redirect to offers.

3. When I send them to websites they are instantly active and sometimes leave hundreds of comments and likes.

4. They LOOVE to participate in contests and events.

5. The secret to gaining fans is by getting a higher viral reach. I found that when I shared things that were simple, the viral reach went through the ceiling. When things got complicated, it was dismal.

6. It's all about staying simple.

7. Controversy is my biggest selling point in my industry.

8. The fans like to actually interact with me as a person, versus just as a page.

9. I've been able to use my current page to create new pages, which have made more money via a single status update than my large page. Reason being is because they were extremely targeted and found the new page as "new" which lead them to the sale.

10. CPA's work wonders.

11. PPC does okay.

12. Affiliates make me big $$.

13. But the best source of income was from creating my own products.

Just remember, keep it simple. Don't hassle your fans constantly to try and make a profit, you have to nurture them.

    Great Justin!

It pays to keep at it and adding more content to keep people coming back for more.

Interestingly, people do like to click on a picture - have you tried some of the funny 'clip art' you can get for free on the net?

Those appear to be some pretty good hints. Do you mind sharing a little more?

Your post alludes to the fact that this is a general page that you use to link to whatever site you want. Do you have any hints on a type of page that is interesting? I rather expected, when starting to read, that this was a branding page (ie, facebook page 1-to-1 with your website), but that doesn't appear to be the case. Is this just a fun page with images/etc like that crazy image one going around? Or?

Have you noticed spikes in traffic from Bing, now that it's doing the social thing? Curious how that's working.

I started to check out your sig link, and find it interesting. I'm not quite convinced without a little more strategy information, but I'm still reading.

    Nice marketing, by the way.

    @Takk,

The biggest info I can just lend out is that it's related to the gaming industry. But the idea isn't to just focus on gaming, test things out.

      @TheIMDude,

You should realize that the FB fans that I actually refer to are related to niches, which are my primary focus. I'm more of an affiliate, ppc, cpa marketer so the pages are related to the individual niches that I'm apart of.

My own YT, FB, and Twitter following are dismal because I don't use them as my primary means for my own business. I keep most of my focus on subscription lists and membership sites currently.

Just wanted to clarify that with ya

Justin can you explain your point #5. How do you define viral reach? Since you already have 100k friends and your viral posts are seen by 90k viral reach unique people. I don't get why it is viral.

Well, is there anything left to say but... Congratulations on your success! You've done a great job of reaching more than 100K likes in just a year. It's a really good feat, if you ask me. Those tips that you've shared could bring anyone to that level. I think it will only differ when they miss even just one of those steps that you mentioned.

      Nope.

I actually only put a little into advertising in the very beginning. The rest has been viral/organic traffic and that's it.

A tip is to use the free $100 facebook advertising coupons. Make sure you get an idea of what you're doing before you spend the credits though, you want them to count.

If you can get a nice return in investment, you can take some of that and build an even larger fanbase.

But now my goal is solely viral/organic traffic
