Should I start the video on YouTube, stop it a ways through and direct people to my website to finish watching it?

    That's a smart idea.

I know a lot of people do that in the porn industry, lol!

I bet it works, make sure you stop it at the most important/climactic part of the video.

Thank you, I was thinking more along the lines of a video on say pruning a rose bush and stopping right after the first cut. Yes, I can see how a porn video would definitely work that way too. LOL

Ha, well you might have to figure out another way to build up suspense and urgency in that market!

Your viewers will be looking for information, give them 90% of the information containing the "what" and "why" and only give them the "how" if they opt in or whatever.

I do that all the time when uploading adult videos as asiancasanova suggested.

I think people are engaged in a different way when watching YouTube videos though, I don't see it having the same results

    hey Marty M

I know some guys who does exactly what you just mentioned..

Just make sure the video is not copyrighted! if it is just be prepared to get suspended in no time!

Also if your video does not bring much value and only serve to get a click, you might want to disable the rating system You don't want too many dislikes in your video

The one thing that's different with Youtube is that people can rate and comment on your videos.

Give your idea a try, just be sure to check on the comments and ratings to make sure you aren't making people angry.

I suggest giving people info on Youtube about a problem, then directing them to your site for the solution.

For example, post a Youtube video about problems growing roses in poor soil and in the video description link to your a page on your site that has fertilizer for sale.
        I agre 100% on kurt!
This is correct way of marketing on youtube.

That is one of the ways I'm doing as well

I think as long as its some info that people really want/need it will work...like Kurt said, give it a try on one video.

It's a cool trick, however what personally gets me more clicks and works for me is providing a video that gives value.

I even most of the time I click the link of the video that teaches me something or adds to my knowledge as I want to know more.
I guess that's normal, more value = more clicks

So I'd suggest get a video that gives only a piece of a really interesting info and stop it then, I think that would be great.

I did that with some videos. But I didn't get much conversions. I don't know what I did wrong though.
Maybe Youtube is just not for me. Although I did get tons of traffic.

It depends but sometime people don't like it But if your video is interesting and the viewer would like to watch it, he will certainly visit your site to watch the rest. Personally if the video is interesting for me to watch, I visit their website to watch the remaining one.
Make your videos interesting and then stop at the most crucial time and direct people to your site.

To get me to click through you would have needed to give me some great info in the first part and made sure you sold the opt-in part really well, to make sure I'm excited enough to click through.

There are people who love driving traffic to their sites vie social media sites. Uploading videos is a very good idea since you can add description about your site and also a link to it.

You can upload your videos on other social media sites like metacafe.
