Singapore Warriors - Help!

I am switching from cheque to direct deposit on Clickbank - and they require an "International Routing Code" from my bank (DBS, by the way). The funny thing is that I called DBS up, and they said that they do not have an "International Routing Code" - instead they provided me with the SWIFT code.

I then checked with Clickbank and they insisted for the IRB. What should I do?

Any Singapore Warriors who uses DBS here?

  • Hi, the IRB number should be reflected on your checks. Did you check it out according to the instructions of Clickbank?
  • Hi Davion - not sure what you meant. What do you mean "on my checks"?

    • "check" (in US) = "cheque" (in Singapore / UK)

they are the same thing! (just different spelling)
  • Deric,

Weird, I called DBS using their toll free line before and I got the code into my clickbank. That was a few months ago so I couldn't recall the numbers. I think a International Routing Code is 4-digits Bank Code + 3 digits Branch code.

And from this site: WikiAnswers - DBS Bank Code, the bank code is 7171. So you're left with the 3 digits branch code you can simply enquire with DBS staff. Just tell them the branch you opened your account and ask for the branch code.

    Hope that helped,
    Dominic

  • IRB and IBAN could mean the same thing?
WikiAnswers - What is IBAN number and SWIFT code for dbs bank in Singapore

I did this before and I don't recall at all. All I remembered was I call DBS and ask them the code based on USA.

If they give you SWIFT code, ask them, "Is that the IRB code?" Get them (Or insist) to verify that SWIFT code and IRB is the same.

  • For foreign deposits, I think DBS has a "proxy" bank to receive and transfer the cash to them.

You need to ask for the Routing Code of that particular "proxy" bank. You might even wanna ask what is their "proxy" bank for foreign deposits.

For me, I am using OCBC and their "proxy" bank is JP Morgan, so I actually asked for the Routing Code of JP Morgan.

Took me a while to find out...

  • Hmm mine is POSB and I used 7171 for institution code and then followed by 081 for branch code.

Not sure if the 081 would vary, though I think it's the same. BUT, please do call and double check.

    Hope it helps..

  • Thanks, guys.

Called DBS again, and got the code.
  • Hey, so what's the code? Is IRB same as IBAN and SWIFT?
  • No. It's 7171. My branch code is 033 for Raffles Place.

    • Which POSB account number should we key into Clickbank?

Passbook saving account and choose "Savings" option
      or
Current account and choose "Checking" option.

I have tried the 2nd method twice and got rejected for invalid banking information.
      Thanks....

  • Hi Deric,

Most likely the person who attended to you is new probably. =)

Call again and you will get a different answer...

Some may prefer to stick to Travelex as the rate differs and sometimes better.

It gets 30 days to see money in your bank account...next time you can mail Travelex the checks.

    Cheers,
    John
  • I have been receiving money via direct deposit since the 1st day it was implemented.

I'm using posb so the IRC is 7171 081. For posb accounts, all will use 081 regardless of which branch. For dbs, you need to put the correect branch code.

For me, I choose savings as account type and entered my savings account no.

PS: Just called IRAS yesterday and found that my internet income is non-taxable..., I better make my first million before they changed the rules!

    • This thread helped me work out how to do the same

There was suggestion to call bank to find out your DBS branch number

No need if you know your 10 digit account number

The first 3 digits are your branch number
