Help Needed Assessing My Site

Hi everyone,

I've been an interested reader for some time here and see that there are some knowledgeable people on here. We should always seek to learn more from such people so here's my question!

I run an online English language school teaching English online with an onsite blog. I am a one-man band. I have experience in many areas from the past that are helping me to work on this project (language learning, teaching, marketing, basic SEO, customer service work, translation among others) but of course there are things I could be missing because I suppose I'm a "jack of all trades" rather than a master of none. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to take a few minutes giving me their analysis (from an IM / SEO /general business perspective) on what they think of my site generally, the general flavour of the blog posts and anything that I may be falling short on which could be hindering progress.

I'm "reaching out" to you for this because I love getting constructive criticism and learning from others. In return for this I will be happy to look at your site for English grammatical/spelling/fluency errors and give you some tips on how you might improve your content from an English language perspective. I am a qualified English teacher with a post graduate education and have studied foreign languages at university so hopefully my experience will help you.

Sorry for the long message but this is me hoping to find anyone who is feeling generous today (or just has a spare 5 mins to kill!).

Regards

      Hello, it is linguapractica com

Let me know your one for whichever you would like me to look at from the English language perspective, if you want I'm happy to do that.

PS - NOTE TO MODERATORS: I have less than 15 posts and so am unable to post URLs. This is why I sneakily typed it as such above. I apologise for this, but hopefully you can see from my previous posts I'm genuinely after advice and not spamming. Cheers.

    LingP,

To me, your Home Page video is too small. I'm not hearing any audio from it. I would make this klarger and much more prominent. Make sure it has a call to action.

If you are going to be getting most of your traffic on your Home Page, the home page needs to be more compelling. Why would I want to register? If I click on other pages to go to, I get more information. But some people will not; they'll just go to the home page, not be motivated, and look for another website.

If I were you, I would try to make sure I captured their email address and try to sell them within 30 seconds on why they should spend more time on your site.

The video on page two (About Us) doesn't have any audio either.

The site looks great from a design perspective, although I agree with Warrior Roy's points.

Who is your target audience? If the site is designed to teach people to speak English, I would assume you are targeting people that cannot currently read or speak English. Do you have versions of the site translated into other languages? Maybe I'm missing something (wouldn't be the first time), but it just seems that your site needs to be in whatever language your target audience is fluent.

My other suggestion would be to give away a mini sample course. That can be used to gather emails for your list and then email them a coupon or something to try a full course at a discount.

Hope that helps. If you don't mind I am going to PM you with my site so you can take a quick look for any grammatical errors. Much appreciated.

I am not sure if this comment could be of help but I hope in the future, you should consider having a website built from Wordpress. You can check some of the benefits of using wordpress in this link, 5 Benefits of Using WordPress as a CMS | WordPress as a CMS: Tutorials and Resources

Personally, I like the color scheme of the site. I have to agree on the previous commenter that the video is too small and there's no voice on it.

    More power to your business!

Yeah agree with some of the points already mentioned, video size/sound, language of site respective to clients country of origin. I think somewhere it mentioned trial resources, aside from the 15min call which is a great idea i think an email submit to download some free resources would be an added bonus to bring people in or at least collect email addressed to build your list.

    Looking good!

I like the design altho the bottom 4 boxes look like they have been squeezed in.

Like others said make the videos stand out more and increase the sizes.

Not sure if its me but the first page of your blog takes awhile to load, there quite a few videos on there maybe split it up a little?
