How long would it take you to build a $1 / day passive asset?

Lately, I've been trying to plan how I can grow my business into something bigger than my primary income. Part of that is determining how much short- and long-term reward result from each of my actions.

I have a small niche site that I might someday grow into an authority site. Right now, it generates between $15 and $30 / month, mostly from a single article I wrote a few months ago. That article has averaged $20 / month since January, and took me 2 hours to write.

I've tried to reproduce this, but it takes so long to know if it worked, I'm not sure if my efforts are going to bear fruit yet - so I attacked my question from the other direction:
What action can I take - and how much time do I need to invest - to generate $1 / day, within 3 months of the action?
So far, that's writing content on my niche sites.

What other ways are there out there that I may not have considered, that would help build my passive income portfolio like this?

Specifically regarding writing an article and posting it. I can tell you from my experience that some of the articles you write (assuming they are high quality and useful) will start making you $1 per day quite quickly and last a long time. Others will never make you a dime in some cases, especially if you don't promote them or syndicate them properly.

If, however, you write 10 great pieces of content you're likely to get at least 5-8 of them performing within a reasonable amount of time so that's still a good return on investment.

I hope that helps a little.

It does, because the number of articles I have out there is somewhat small.

I am not syndicating at the moment, but building content for my sites. I don't mind sharing the example I used in my OP: Choosing the Best Camera Strap for You | Photography Basics 101

I spent about two hours total writing, finding images, posting the article on Reddit, and interacting with the community there in terms of what I missed. It's currently ranking for the term "best camera strap" and a couple of minor variations - other than the Reddit post linked in the article, I've done no link building at all.

If I can reproduce this on average once per day, I'll meet my income goals in about 9 months. If I write one quality article a day and am as successful as you indicate is possible, then I should get there in a year or so.

      That's promising to me
