I have been struggling to make money online for a long time now (I'm not going to bore you with my story). Anyway, every day I was stressing over how, where and when to go about it.

I recently took a 4 day break from IM, Warrior Forum and all my Emails and I can tell you it was the best thing I did in a long time. It really helps you think straight, and allows you to relax a bit. Theres no use stressing every single day of your life over how to make money.

If, your struggling, TAKE A BREAK. 5 mins, 5 hours of 5 days, a break really helps.

After, you've had your break come back with a refreshed mind and TAKE action. Whether you think something will work or not just do it. If it works, well you've got money, if not learn from why it didn't work and try something else.

This really helped me and I am currently implementing a plan of my own.

Good Luck and hope this helped,

Tim

You should break from distractions every day for a set period of time. Make your goal for the day and get it done without any distractions. Pick an hour or two every day and turn off email, TV, FaceBook, forums, Skype, etc.

I completely agree with you. Taking a break allows you to recharge your soul batteries, but it also helps to allow you to take a step back and look at the overall picture to see if you are still headed in the right direction.

My wife and I recently tried to help someone start up a cafe business (brick and mortar biz - not online biz). And everyone involved in the project was working 60+ hour weeks, but only my wife and I were interested in taking a moment to assess our actions to see if we were actually being productive or if we were just spinning our wheels. After about a month we had to step away from the project to protect our sanity. The majority owner of the cafe thinks he is building a business, but in reality he is building a noose around his neck, he just can't see it because he is too busy working all the time....

It's certainly possible to have money, fame, etc. But for me I want freedom and peace. A business is a long term commitment, so its necessary to weigh the risks/rewards and make sure you are constantly steering the ship in the right direction. Even though business is a gamble, and we sacrifice our time and energy now for greater rewards later, don't forget that time is your most valuable asset and you can't get it back.

I wish you the best in your business endeavors. Don't give up, but don't get too sucked in that you lose perspective either.

I don't agree with that one. Those emails are filled with swipe material you can and should be making use of. Only unsubscribe if you are a compulsive shopper and cannot control your urges.

Good advice. I think it helps everyone to take a break no matter what type of business you are in. We all need a break at one point or another.

    Hi,
Brilliant strategy. You do need to step away regularly to help you refocus and reassess things.

also work in short bursts. (3 hours or so)

Unlike a typical 9-5 corporate job (more like 9-7 nowadays) you can actually work for a bit, stop, unwind (I take a nap and watch some espn) then get back to it feeling refreshed

    gotta love IM

Taking a break throughout the day can work great but I used to find that I was still working 7 days a week and still feeling like a never took a break and I was always working.

Then I implemented taking Sunday's off and it made a big difference to my productivity (Got a lot more done) and my overall happiness. However, becuause I was launching a product, I recently slipped back into the old 7 day a week routine.

This thread has reminded me that I work a lot better when I am taking a whole day off a week. That means, know email, no forum posting - I don't even turn on my computer. Try it and see if it makes a difference for you.

One of the things I like best about working for yourself is - you figure out how/when YOU work best.

When you have a traditional job you have to work when THEY want you to work

maybe you work better at night
maybe you work better on weekends
maybe you work better in short bursts
maybe you need a long nap and a nice lunch (not eating at your desk

as long as you are productive - you can do it your way
