Hello, I am new to this site

I have a site which deals about Whales. Can you please tell me how should I monetize it apart from adsense? I guess there are no affiliates

If your readers were mainly whales, I would suggest selling them minnows. I have seen whales do some pretty complex tricks for those little fishies. But, I doubt your readers are whales, so I will defer your question to the peanut gallery.

No, I was dead serious. I thought your readers were eight thousand pound sea mammals using their iPads.

I find this interesting, you could sell ocean relaxation music.
Another good suggestion is to go with Amazon, you can sell whale related items with Amazon.

You can also try to sell videos of free whales or documentaries about how they live etc..

Where does most of the traffic come from? Does it get a significant amount of traffic (like over 2,000 unique visitors per month)?

If so, you might want to see if there are whale-related trusts or organisations that would pay for the exposure on your site.

Also, if people visiting the site are into whales, then presumably they'll also be interested in books/DVDs etc about whales. Amazon.com has an affiliate program, so you can promote anything you find on there that's related to whales.

    Of course it's a joke

This is a pretty interesting niche. First off, you have to think like your reader or even learn a little bit more about your reader - why are they visiting your site? Are they mainly visiting your website to learn about whales for a school project? If so, you could monetize via scholarship offers and/or student loan offers. If they aren't students why not monetize by selling sea world tickets or sea world items/toys/etc.? I haven't checked to see if sea world offers an affiliate program, but if they do it would be a decent idea. You could also seek out whale type sculptures/trinkets. I would suggest learning more about your audience and developing a plan/angle based on that.

    Hope this helps.

Perhaps focus on readers who would like to book whale watching tours? I'm sure there are travel agencies you can partner with for that. Cape Cod in particular seems to be a popular place for that if I remember correctly.

You may want to go the art path: check out being an affiliate for artists-painters of whales, like Wyland, Robert Thomas(we are friends, say Joni Depies suggested I talk to you, His son Michael is into internet marketing and understands what we do), robertthomasart.com and colorsofparadise.com) and feature a painting (originals sell for about $7k giclees about $1k depending on size. I think they go about $6 an inch) or find a book on how to draw whales etc. or do all of the above in this thread one on each page. good luck

Have you had a look on amazon to see if there is anything you can bundle on the site?
Without seeing your site, and knowing the traffic, its hard to say.

I'd sell some nature/animal related affiliate products via Amazon or others. Chances are if they're interested in whales, they're interested in animals in general.

Well this one is definitely going to be simple, you just need to write a e-book about blowholes... everyone loves blowholes, I wish I had one

but in all seriousness I think there's a variety of ways that you could monetize the site, especially if you are already receiving a substantial amount of targeted traffic.

You can make a general e-book or even a physical one going over a very niche subject concerning whales, like their migration habits, their diet or just generally their social structure.
Another way that you could do it is by selling direct advertisements on the site pertaining to aquatic sea life, like from Sea world or some related water themed vacation spot.. The reason I say this is because there is a massive overlap from a lot of different high-in niches that have to do with your subject - like vacation travel spots as well as aquatic studies and generally any hobby having to do with ocean life.

If you could do it well, this one niche could increase your internet revenue quite a bit.

So to sum it up, I'll give you a list of ideas that I think you could use that would effectively enable you to monetize your site.

    1. Physical or digital book relating to aquatic sea mammals
    2. Direct advertisements on your site from various ocean related niches that pay well
    3. Indirect advertising on your sites such as Google AdSense or similar sites
    4. Setting up a list comprised of solely traffic from this site in which you could sell discounted aquatic themed merchandise and information products to.

Number four is going to be a big one because off the top my head, I think you could monetize it very well using just general merchandise you sell through your affiliate link from Amazon.

I'm excited for you my friend and I hope this helps.

Whale I never. What a thread.

Ok, I'm going for the krill now . . .

      Q. Have you ever seen a whale cry?
      A. No, but I've seen a whale blubber.

      Q. Where do you weigh whales?
      A. At a whale-weigh station.

      Q. How do you circumcise a whale?
      A. You send down four-skin divers.

Did you know that a whale penis is called a 'dork'.
The blue whale has the biggest penis in the world, so every time someone call you a dork, take it as a compliment!

Why is everybody avoiding the real answer here? The real answer is you are not going to make much money at all from a blog about whales. The whale niche is just not making the money it used to make.... oh wait, not sure it ever made money. You might get a sale or two from somebody that was actually looking for a book on whales and found your site, but they will be few and far between.
