I'm creating a website that review an amazon product.

It's ok for me to use the reviews on amazon.com but is it ok for me if I use reviews on different websites? like other reviews on a manufacture's page?

would that violate any copyrights? because I don't want to get sued

Rule of Thumb: if it's not yours don't use it. No one can tell what you are contemplating, but, for instance, taking reviews off of Best Buy and using them to promote Amazon.com would probably not be looked kindly upon by Best Buy.

Although the person making the review owns the copyright to their review, you may find websites requiring licensing of those rights (like this forum does) so that they can protect the value of the sites in instances like this.

What is the point of you just copying reviews already available? I find it a huge turn-off when I'm researching something with my consumer hat on, and go from site to site finding exactly the same text.

Use other reviews as a starting point, but write your reviews in your own words and voice. Weave in valid points from the reviews on Amazon, Best Buy, etc., and include one or two negative points. This factor alone will make you stand out from the crowd and people will trust you more.

Thank you. I bought this WSO and the product recommended that I should put an excerpt of another Amazon review.

    Thank you again.

I wouldn't take the chance of using anything that doesn't belong to you or does not expressly state that you can use it. It would really stink to build your site up and start making $$ only to get a notice from some lawyer.

You can make summary of customers reviews from Amazon or other sites like Best Buy in your own word. Don't just copy and paste them to your site. You won't rank high if your content isn't unique. You can also write them as pros and cons of the product you're promoting.
