How to develop partnerships for email marketers?

I have an email newsletter with around 20,000 subscribers. I am looking for different procedures/methods to establish 'affiliate type' partnerships with other companies/publishers/marketers, but I have no idea how such partnerships can be forged. The information I am looking for is:
  1. How can we/should we approach prospective partners?
  2. How can we develop a profit-sharing model with a partner?
  3. How does the technical side work? Do we develop an 'affiliate cookie' to track sales?
  4. How can we bring the partnership/relationship and T&C on paper in such a way for the whole thing to have a legal value?

I am not looking for CJ or stock affiliate deals. I am asking about customized affiliate partnerships at a higher level based on profit sharing model close to 50/50 sharing. I sell a high-end, high-value product.

I thank everyone in advance for their help.

Congrats on the 20,000, although that may not be huge to justify your own new system.

Have you tried conventional Solo ads or Ad swaps?

Googling it turned up this guys picks of solo ad providers.

I believe they are always funded through paypal and typically don't have a refund policy though thy may offer smaller test packages, this sounds like it might be uncomplicated once you get your name out there.

      Thank you for the pointers.

I actually have a subscription newsletter and it currently has no advertising. My audience is affluent, educated, business owners, and a 20% retirees with a big nest egg. I'm thinking partnerships with yacht rental companies and the like - companies that may not even have an affiliate program. What do you suggest in this case? I would greatly appreciate a reply in the light of my original post.
