Launching eBook, own domain or just host on amazon, smashwords etc.?

I'm about to launch my second eBook, what are your thoughts on getting a hosted domain ie. www.booktitle,com with copy vs JUST hosting on Kindle, Smashword etc?

Own domain is higher investment but i'd keep more of the profits, hosting on the other sites is lower cost, less profit.

I am sure that using your own domain will be making more trust-value among customers.

IMHO, use coupon to buy a $2 .com domain at GoDaddy is not so high investment.

    Good luck!

Go with a domain. Having complete control over the site will end up being extremely valuable in both the short and long run. Besides a couple bucks being shelled out, there's no downside.

All of the above. Having your own domain allows you to brand yourself more efficiently and effectively. Also hosting is so inexpensive these days and in most countries is allowed to be written off as a business expense (or at least a percentage of it), so there's really no excuse not to do it.

You should also be building your own opt-in list and having your own website on your own domain name makes it infinitely easier to do it. A total no-brainer here.

My first ebook is hosted on my personal training companys page anyway, I then uploaded it to Kindle, Smashwords etc. for maximum exposure - My 2nd book is not fitness related though, hence the Q! I am still thinking along the lines of maximum exposure though...

Your own domain would be best you could even create a membership site out of it really. Or within the ebook have links that point back to selling points or extra information about what you wrote in your ebook

I'd go with the domain (if you are serious about this) but getting a domain with the book name might not be the best way to go. Will you be writing more books in the same genre? If so, you might want to consider an author (branded) domain.
