Building an Amazon Review Site One Product at a Time - How I Do It (Live Example)

Okay all...

Since I've gotten several requests for sample Amazon review sites, I wanted to show you how I build my own sites without impacting my existing sites. As such, this post will step you through the process that I follow from beginning to end as I create a new, live Amazon review site.

The steps that are involved include:
  • Niche Selection
  • Domain Selection
  • Ultimate Product Review System Installation
  • Product Identification / Selection
  • Review Creation
  • Site Promotion / Backlinking

Niche / Domain Selection:

For this project, I've chosen a niche that I only have a passing knowledge of: Home Improvement / Power Tools.

Power tools seem like a good choice because there are always new ones coming out and they can be somewhat expensive so I can see folks searching for reviews before buying them. Although I'm by no means an expert on power tools, I am a guy that does lots of DIY project so I'm sure I can fumble my way through it.

The domain I've chosen is tzonetools.com.

Ultimate Product Review System Installation:

Since I like to provide my reviews in a few different layouts, I use the Ultimate Product Review System, which is a WordPress-based data-entry style back-end and product review creation tool. It installs like any other WordPress theme and is based on the GazpoMag theme(a clean an professional-looking theme).

Product Identification / Selection
:

For this exercise, I've settled on 4 products I'll target:
  • DEWALT DCS391B 20-Volt MAX Li-Ion Circular Saw
  • DEWALT DCS331B 20-Volt MAX Li-Ion Jig Saw
  • Milwaukee 2410-22P 12V Cordless M12 Lithium-Ion 3/8-in Drill Driver
  • Bosch MX30EL-37 Multi-X 3.0 Amp Oscillating Tool Kit
These products seem to be pretty light on competition. I don't know search volume because I haven't looked at any keyword tools. I'm relying on my knowledge of the buyer and the fact that these are newer products. I've also taken a quick glance at page one for each of these and the Top 10 results seem very beatable for the most part.

Yes, some products will be duds. It's part of the game. Since I can create a review in minutes, I don't worry too much about it. I just consider dud products to additional tools (no pun intended) to help my better products rank.

Review Creation:

I'm not sure I can show you a video as it may be considered promotional. However, what I do is enter my product details into the data-entry style back end review creation system. Since it's a guided-tour type of system, I don't have to sit in front of a blank document and write from scratch. The system tells me what to write.

Over the next day or so (getting ready to go to work), I'll post up reviews of the 4 products mentioned above, along with some others. My goal for this exercise is to have 10-15 reviews posted within a week or so.

Site Promotion / Backlinking:

I don't really do any site promotion or backlinking per se. I rely, primarily, on automated tools to ping and bookmark every new post. I also use a Twitter plugin to automatically tweet each new post.

Click here for a screenshot of what plugins I've installed.

Summary:

Over the coming days, I'll be building out things like the ancillary pages, additional reviews, etc.

Short of a live case study, this is the best I could come up with. I expect that within a week or so, this site should be indexed and hopefully ranking for the products I've chosen. I'm not as familiar with this niche so I hope I haven't misjudged anything.

Crossing my fingers!
