How Do I sell Unwanted Domains?

Hi,

I know there is something called site flipping. Does that mean when you want to sell a website or just a domain. I'm afraid I am a bit confused.

The thing is I have several blogs with .com domain names that have quite good stats - good few searches, not too much comp. But I can't be bothered to do anything with the blogs because I have no interest in them. They were the produce of when I was first learning IM and I forgot that I had to have at least some interest in the subject.

If you are selling a domain what happens to the blog and all the surrounding network that is in place to support it's rankings.

Sorry, I prob sound so stupid, have been up all night so am more dense than usual.

If someone could put it in simpe terms of how I can get rid of the domains and even if there is a profitable way to do it, I would be much obliged.

Thankyou.

You could list them for sale on sitepoint.com. You'll have to do a little research to figure out what they are worth when you list, and what you are willing to accept. I'm not sure what will happen to any surrounding network that you have when it is sold.

If you sell the blog and it's content, together with the domain name then it would be a site flip.

If you just sell the domain name with no content or blog then it would just be a domain sale/flip. Domain sale would only really make sense if you had no content on it.

As Michael indicated, you can sell your site on sitepoint. Visit the marketplace and see how others are selling their sites. Take a look at some of the sites that have been sold and are selling to get an idea of what you can charge.

If your blogs have traffic, page rank and some age then you would have a better chance of getting a sale for the blogs.

Not sure what you did for your surrounding network to support the blogs, but if it were backlinks from other sites e.g. article directories, squidoo, other blogs etc, then nothing will happen to these.

If you joined a 3 way link network or some type of paid service then you will have to check their terms of service. E.g. in the case of 3 way links, if you sell the site and the new owner deletes the links then they may lose the backlinks.

      Kevin.

I would keep them.. if they get traffic, surely they can be monetized in some fashion? What you have is the beginnings of your own blog farm. They can be used to get new sites indexed, for backlinks, etc.. no need to keep them updated really.

Thanks for the advice guys, thats really helped. One of my sites was at page 1 in google until about 3 days ago and is now I can't find it, I think it is because I have done absolutely NO work on it. But to be fair it stayed at page one for a very long time.

Tommy, I'll PM you and give you the details.

    Cheers.

mike's right, site point is the place to start. If the quality is low, try digital point.
