  • Well first off it's going to depend who you are marketing to and where your visitors are coming from.

You aren't just going to convert anyone by making changes on the site (well you can, but listen up).

Before you can worry about conversions, you need to understand your audience and who you are marketing to. You have to think about where the traffic is coming from. Is it targeted? Do you even have visitors?

Once you understand your audience and where the traffic is coming from, then you'll want to focus on conversions.

Here's a few things I would suggest testing out.

    1. A/B Testing, test out different templates.

    2. Colors, change the colors of links/images to see which converts better.

    3. Design, sometimes simple is better, but some audiences want crazy designs.

    4. Call to Action, change the words being used in your call to action.

    5. Arrow or No Arrow, sometimes test out an arrow pointing at your Call to Action.

    6. Traffic, maybe consider customizing pages targeted at different traffic sources. So if they come from Facebook, include Facebook comments/like buttons.

    Just my 2 cents
  • I think it would be very helpful if you told us exactly how you try to make conversions right now. I know everyone is different, but if we're going to help you we got have to insight into your strategy.

There are a variety of ways in which you can use the conversion rate of your site but I think it boils down to just a few principles.

    1. Quality traffic
    2. Great sales letter
    3. Giving the customer every opportunity to buy
    4. Creating a quality list

I'll go over all of these points.

Your first concern, when it comes to making your site convert well, is getting the best traffic for the product that you're selling. A lot of people might try to tell you that the more traffic your site sees the more items you will sell, and there is a grain of truth there. But in all honesty, what matters more is the source and keywords you used to drive the traffic to your site. If you're selling a "make money fast" product but you're receiving all of your traffic from the health niche, your playing a losing game and I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't make a single sale.
Figure out exactly what your selling and what keywords pertain to that product. Then drive all the traffic that your site receives from either those keywords or keyword is an overlap of that subject matter.

Next up is having a quality sales letter. Some people might disagree with me about the importance of quality sales copy, but I'm a stickler for it. I believe in the saying that "copy is king". You could have crappy traffic, but if you're sales letter is strong enough, you can at least convert a tiny minority of people who were vaguely interested in such things. There are two ways to get a quality sales letter, you can write it out yourself by basing it on proven successful sales letters from the past ( which I would recommend highly as it is a skill that almost all marketers need to learn) or you can hire someone whose very competent in the area. Hiring a competent copywriter can sometimes be expensive but I can tell you for a fact it is worth it long-term. When you see the sales racking up, you starts to see the value of it.

The next one is frequently overlooked, but extraordinarily important. All throughout your sales letter you should give your potential customer, the opportunity to buy. There is a saying entitled ABS - always be selling. Any sales letter you have should have a link every 3 to 5 paragraph giving them opportunity to stop reading and buy your product. This concept comes out in a variety of ways but I think for now I'll leave it at that.

Now finally, you should put a lot of effort in cultivating a strong and responsive list, because this is where the bulk of your sales long-term will come from. If you make it a point to reward your list for subscribing to you and provide high quality content for nothing. They'll respond by buying your product when it's available, sometimes at premium prices. It's based on the principle of reciprocity, which is to say that if you provide good things for nothing, people feel obligated to return the favor.

Now I know I ranted for too long, but I hope this helps you out.

    Good luck my friend!

    • My strategy so far is using social media like twitter to try to promote sales. I also have started using pinterest to generate sales as well. As far as traffic I have been using fiverr gigs to gain traffic which I believe is not targeted to much. I have used to targeted paid traffic from a guy on here but it didn't convert. I have also been guest blogging now as a way to boost traffic. I have a lady working on my SEO for the site to.
  • What are you trying to convert them to, a list or sales?

  • All traffic will not you give you good conversion. For getting that you have to promote that to targeted people, who have real interest on your niche. If the visitors are not interested on your product, how do you expect conversion? Design your promotion properly to attract the real possible customer.
  • 1 simple tip that I have always used is be as relevant to your visitor as possible. It's really a simple tip, but it'll bring you a long ways. Example: you said you're in the t-shirt niche... instead of going broad, focus your efforts into building out sub-niches. Start ranking or buying traffic for more specific keywords and provide that landing page to your user (ie if you're user is searching for "hangover 2 t-shirts" provide that for them with a relevant page) - basically, give them what they are asking for, and you'll definitely see a drastic increase in your conversion rate.

Another useful tip would be to use a strong call to action (CTA). So often this simple thing is over-looked. Use it everywhere. You need to tell your visitor what you want them to do, even if it's plain simple and common sense. Additionally, if you can provide a message to make your offer sound more limited or exclusive this can also really help (using verbiage like: limited time only or limited time offer or while supplies last).

A/B testing your entire website with Google Website Optimizer is always definitely worth a shot. You should never stop A/B testing. Whenever you find a winner between the two items you're testing, put up another contestant and have those two items battle it out. Once you find a winner between both of those... rinse and repeat.

Truth is, there are so many things you can do, but I hope this provides a good start.

  • Try to spread the site to as much people as possible, conversion rate will surely increase...
  • Have you checked out threadless? If you haven't go to threadless.com and look at their layout. They have a converting site.
  • #1- Those are pretty horrible forms of traffic
to get anything like a stable idea of your
    conversions or income.

Try placing some banner ads on sites with
similar demographics to your ideal buyers.

#2- Your page doesn't look trustworthy in
the slightest. I wouldn't entrust it with my
credit card details, and apparently neither
    would your visitors.

Analyze some other t shirt sites, see how
they prove their trust to the visitor, and
then see how you can apply that to your
    site.

#3- Read Landing Page Optimization by
    Tim Ash.

Do that first. Right now. Scoot. Over to
Amazon. Don't look at your site again
until you've devoured it cover to cover.

#4- Seriously, stop buying traffic like
you are. You're just wasting money.

    Good luck with it.
