Wordpress Advice Please

Hi

If i set up a blog in wordpress and make the home page a static page ,then will this affect my search engine ranking.

Also will all the post i post to it just be displayed in the sidebar for viewers to read it,due to my page being a static home page.

    No a static page will not affect your rankings for that site in my experience.

    Yes the posts will show up in the sidebar depending on your template

        Usually you use one template for one site. However, the post and page can have different layout - again depending on your template. If you are technically savvy, you can change the design yourself.

        You can see my PLR site in my sig for example. On the home page, it's static.

          It won't affect SEO. Just make sure you use the right SEO plugins. A sitemap wouldn't hurt either.

    Hello,
    I found this info on the WordPress site: codex.wordpress.org/Pages

    WordPress can be configured to use different Page Templates for different Pages. Toward the bottom of the Write > Page administration panel (or on the sidebar, depending on which version of WordPress you are using) is a drop-down labeled "Page Template." From there you can select which Template will be used when displaying this particular Page.

    by static, you mean 'unchanging'? It probably won't make too much difference, although as search engines like new stuff, making regular 'tweaks' to it shouldn't hurt either.

    Why would you want to do that? Isn't it better to brand your content with a standard template (e.g. header)?
