This is definitely a simple question with so many answers, but I'll try be as clear and concise as I possibly can.

There are two ways in general to get traffic to anything, your blog included.

    1. Free traffic sources, such as SEO techniques and quality article content writing.

    2. Paid traffic sources, such as Google's PPC engine and general ad buying.

What it really comes down to is what are you willing to do in order to get the traffic that you want?

If you have no money but a lot of time, form posting, article writing, creating quality keyword enriched content on your blog and other "traffic attracting" methods would do you well. The downside of this is most of them are hit and miss. You have to spin a lot of time up front to create the traffic sources that you will receive long-term. It's not going to be a race, it's going to be a marathon for you if you take this route.

But your long-term success will be more than worth it.

If you have a bit of money and not necessarily a lot of time, using paid traffic sources is definitely a great way to go. This way you'll receive a lot of traffic upfront, and if you do it right, a loyal subscriber base long-term. Great ways to buy traffic is to pay for a keyword specific PPC campaign on Google or buying a banner or a back link from prominent websites in your niche. There are quite a few top-tier sites that offer direct advertising on their site in exchange for money.
You just have to put in enough time and look around, plus have the money to back it up.

If you have any specific questions, so free to ask my friend.

Do a search in this forum and you will find that your question has been asked a thousand times before. The answers are there.

What you need to focus on though is targeted traffic and if you are not paying for it, one of the best ways to get that is to find out where your target audience hang out and then get in front of them there.

Before you drive traffic, have you optimized your site to make it appealing to visitors?

How many posts do you have, and are they solid content or just adverts in disguise?

The standard advice has been covered, but once you get enough posts here adding a link to your signature and contributing to the community can only be a good thing to do.

    - Be active on related forums - bring value.
    - Create some free products based in that industry and spread them anyway you know - you'll be offering free value, so it won't be a problem.
    - Build fresh content from time to time and keep a relationship with your subscribers (no matter how few they are).
    - Have a long term goal in mind (6-12 months) about your traffic amounts, ranked keywords, subscribers amount, forum status, etc.

I assume that you only have 1 blog. Is that the case? I am also in the process of setting up my first blog but I want to do a few more. I am still struggling between putting up only 1 blog and turn it into a massive blog with tons and tons of traffic and strong original content.....or create 10+ blogs and monetize them all. Some people are telling me to go with 10+ blogs and some say to focus all of your energy on 1 blog.

For now I will begin with 1 blog. My intention is to drive enormous amounts of traffic to it and fill it with my own original quality content. Just google Phone Arena, go to their website and see what it looks like. Just one website with a bunch of original quality content. I am sure they put an exhausting amount of effort into building it but I think this could work. What do you think?

If this a true blog and not just a niche site then I would say the best thing you can do is to write amazing stuff... I think in the lingo of the bloggers: Write Epic Sh*t.

People like to read something epic and different. If you just write like everybody else then even if you do get someone there, they wont stay or take any desired action if your blog sucks or is boring.

      Kevin,

I saw your blog. You look so happy with your life. You see, this is what I am looking for with IM. I don't want to be a rich guy flaunting money. I want to have the freedom to enjoy my life. I just want to ask you what it is that you do in IM. Do you do affiliate marketing or own multiple niche blogs or do you sell products/services? I don't want to know your secrets. I only want to know what you do. You have no idea how much I want to have that freedom to do what I want

        Writing epic snizz isn't enough...not by a long shot. If a tree falls in the forest and no one's around to hear it, it doesn't exist. Same principle. {wrong in real life, but online it's DEFINITELY true}

You need people to see your epic snizz. So apart from the free and paid techniques the other warriors have posted, I'm gonna share a few more with you.

        1. Network with other bloggers in the same niche, and see about getting guest blogging opportunities. Note: if they clearly advertise guest posting opportunities, then they're not really good blogs with good traffic.

        2. Once your blog posts are indexed by the SE's, take the posts and submit them on 3 {THREE} of the article directories. This will help them get syndicated. Syndication means more eyes on your blog or website. Note: your posts can be syndicated on those guest blogging opportunities, but sometimes the other authors will want a completely original article, but if you can, just submit an article you already have on your site.

These two notes alone will get you more traffic for sure...and they're free. Time consuming, but free.

        Hey WeatherEmperor,

I have been doing this a long time... so, what I do day in and day out is going to be different than it will be for you at this point. The best first piece of advice I would give you is that you should start with one site and work very hard on it. Don't bounce from idea to idea. Focused effort over time... Good luck!

There are plenty of ways for Internet marketers like us to increase traffic to our blog. One of them is, through active participation in online forums like this, Warrior Forum. I just noticed, as of this posting, you're not yet using a forum signature here. Create one ASAP, with link pointing to your blog. Every time you post a reply in this forum, a link pointing to your blog will be created, through that forum signature. Create a forum signature here. It will help you a lot in generating traffic to your blog.

    1) Blog hopping
Works like crazy. What you do is visit various
blogs that is related to your topic/niche & drop
comments on their blog post. Don't spam, be real,
be casual & provide value in your comments.
    2) Forum marketing.
Also works like crazy. Join a forum & get involved
in the community. Leave a link to your blog in your
'signature'. Again, be real, provide value and don't spam.

These 2 simple methods works well for me & I hope it will for
you too. Most importantly is that you gotta be consistent & be
doing this at least 1 - 2 hr everyday. Good luck!

I suggest you to got with social networks and social media. Try to promote your site on forums and blogs with the same niche, create Facebook and Twitter account so that your visitors can follow/add you. If possible create a few videos and post them on YouTube, try to promote them and you will see good results.

Most answers here are correct and as you might correctly assume, they involve a lot of work.

This is important so that you know what it takes...plus you wont see results overnight.

So, ready to work like a dog and be patient like a monk?

Great. Now you need a PLAN.

That is a basic but easily overlook ingredient of getting traffic.

After you order your ideas you will need to decide what you will do at the macro AND micro level (i.e. the whole strategy and the operative plan)

What will you do over the next three months? Youtube videos, facebook marketing, forum posting, blog commenting, etc.

But equally important...what will you do week by week and day by day? If you miss this part you might not accomplish the long term strategy.

So, take your notebook and first plan your work and then work your plan

There are many ways these days. But appears social bookmarking is the best. If you have the money, try Facebook ads - it will drive traffic like crazy, but at a cost.

    1) Submit your blog and rss feed to the blog and rss directories.

    2) Make 1 blog post per day and ping your blog (pingomatic for Blogger blogs)

    3) Do article marketing

    4) Forum marketing

    5) Youtube (there's these 2 brothers on Youtube who have over 95,000 subscribers to their channel, and they lead people back to their Blogger blog. Lots of traffic)

Make sure you get a nice camcorder.

Learn how to create organic traffic through SEO. But I believe the best way to get traffic for your blog and get to the top of Google, is by creating videos and uploading them to YouTube. Very effective if you brand your site and videos with the right keywords. and tags.
