Solo Ads versus PPC campaign, which one provides more responsive leads?

From your experience, which one is better between buying solo ads and launching ppc campaign to gain responsive leads?

I've been trying solo ads for a few weeks and am thinking about launching a ppc campaign in 7search.

Thanks.

      Hi Hans

That is a tough question to ask simply because of the number of parameters involved. You will have to do your own tests to arrive at a conclusion. I will give you a few generic ideas here.

PPC can give you targeted leads. But you can do really well with solo ads if you have a tight offer that ties in well with the subscribers of the list owner. Lets assume you have a squeeze page offering a free amazon product review word press theme. And you approach a list owner selling solo ads, whose subscribers have a genuine interest in being an amazon affiliate or are already creating their amazon review websites.

In this particular case the success rate will be very high. You will get a good opt in rate to your squeeze page and the list will be very responsive for your future amazon related promotions.

      Hope this helps!

With good quality solo ads from providers that have done a good job developing some kind of relationship, in addition to targeting according to a known interest, you get what amounts to a respected social reference. It's like when a friend/neighbor tells you a certain contractor does good work at a fair price versus merely coming across an ad in the Yellow Pages by a contractor claiming to do good work at a fair price. They are both targeted advertising, but the respected reference helps to add authority to the marketing communications by the one company versus the other.

Of course, just like in real life with expert contractors coming to look at potential work at a person's home, some people just want to pick an expert's brain for free info to figure something out to do themselves, or they simply can't afford the services/products being offered. You will encounter these, regardless of traffic source, but they are exceptionally common through 7Search. All things being equal, a solo ad to a targeted list that hasn't been recently oversold to or neglected will produce more responsive opt-ins than PPC in general (but especially the likes of 7Search).

    Here is the difference:
    Solo Ads offer targeted leads.
    PPC gets you targeted clicks.

    but

Solo ads might be provided by scammers that go to microworkers and pay people to optin your list. SO you absolutely must find trusted providers of legit leads.
There was a website online that everyone said is the best solo ad provider (damn i cant remember the name...) and when i went a read the comments there were about 50% of the people complaining and actually having proof that the provider used sites like microworkers (one even found the instruction that the provider posted in his job posting on microworkers )

Long story short...difficult to find legit solo ads providers! You might want to check this WSO that was posted a few days ago. The owner says he personally tested 10 providers of solo ads and they made it into his "Inner Circle". Here it is: http://www.warriorplus.com/w/a/1v0pg

UPDATE: Same Owner of Inner Circle is releasing today his new 2013 updates Solo Ads provider's List: ***Check it out here

Hans - the answer to your question is that both would provide quality leads if both are done right. Like a few others had mentioned above, if you can find a quality solo ads partner then they would be able to provide quality leads. PPC will also provide you quality leads provided that you find quality keywords that convert for your particular offer, and that takes both time and money.

Additionally, if you're going to go with PPC, I would stick with proper search engines as they will be the ones who provide quality traffic. 7search won't provide 1/10th of the quality of traffic as GOOG/Bing/Yahoo.

Based on my experience, PPC will give you more responsive leads than Solo Ads. The PPC that I mention is Adwords, not 7search.

PPC is harder than Solo Ads, because there's a learning curve. But, it could be cheaper. Also, the traffic could be more targeted, so you could get better leads.

Solo Ads is perfect if you want to build your list.

Yes...7Search does not "work" for a lot of people!

Solo Ads are good when you know what type of relationship has been built with the vendor. However due to many scammers these days most solo ads are questionable to say the least. I personally prefer using Facebook PPC as I know exactly where the traffic is coming from and those subscribers tend to be more "fresh" as solo ad subscribers usually get the impression that the subscriber has been beaten to death by the churn and burn business model, which can dramatically affects my results when building my list. Always build your list for quality not quantity. Solo Ad's can be good but be careful who you are buying from. Always ask questions like : How was your list built? What % of subscribers are from tier 1 countries? Do you have a landing page I can look at ? How often do you mail your list? Are buyers included ? Also always be sure to check if the vendor has good feedback + sales.

Both can be profitable, not all solo ads are quality traffic. As for ppc, it must be targeted. In my opinion both are OK

They are both effective and risky at the same time.
On one hand, like some of you guys mentioned, if you get scammed with the solo ads, you can forget about your leads.
On the other hand... if you don't know how to effectively set up a PPC campaign, you won't get any results either!
So, I'd say it's all about testing things out.

When you buy solo ads and get leads from there, your conversions to sales will be very low.

Your conversions to sales with pay per click will be a lot higher in my view. I have tested this in the past year and pay per click always wins.

Even though this thread is several years old I would say the same thing I would have said in 2012. PPC is by far the best. You might get a rare solo ad that converts like crazy but that is 1 in a 100. When you get good at PPC you will see the clear difference.

    Solo Ads are better. Because:
Ads are shown to targeted people who are interested in your topic
They have history of buying similar products already
    They don't hat email marketing
    They are more responsive

Clearly the opinions are on both sides of the coin equally..

I guess at the end of the day it all depends what's at the end of the click.

If you're promoting products in the IM niche and want to build a list, then finding a reputable solo ad provider can do wonders, especially one that will help you with tips to increase conversions or even write up the email swipe for you based on what they know converts.

On the other hand, if you're not that experienced with PPC, you could really blow through a lot of money and time testing different ad variations, keyword groups, etc.

Regardless, what really matters is where they land when they click.

Both are paid traffic methods, both require accurate targeting and a high converting funnel to churn a profit.

If your goal is to build a self liquidating email list in the IM niche, then solos would be a great start... But small, test different variations on the landing page, and scale up as soon as your numbers start to look sexy...
