Do you have a backup plan? If not, you should!

A little over a year ago my wife had an auto accident. Her injuries were bad enough that I had to shut down everything I was doing online and concentrate 100% on taking care of her.

She still has the same broken foot she had a year ago and we are still waiting on her corrective surgery, although that should happen in the next week or so.

Because of my wifes injuries and us having no backup plans I was forced to completely stop everything I was doing online. I lost my Aweber account that I had for years ( it was on the old pricing plan so I can never get that back) and I have had to shut down all web sites and even let most of my domains go.

Its only now after all this time that I am slowly finding time to do a little work each day on a project that I should have released 9 months ago.

If you don't have some kind of backup plan then you need to figure one out right now. I learned the hard way what happens when something unexpected strikes and you are not prepared.

Make sure you have more than one income stream. If you do all the work in your business yourself figure out how to outsource as much as you can. Work out ways to have residual income that don't require constant attention.

Above all else, make sure you have your business set up so that if you lose the ability to work for a period of time that you have some way to keep your business working for you, even if it means having someone you trust to run things until you can take the business back over.

It's difficult to have someone to do the work for you if you cannot, things are different if they done by you. You are loosing some information and the other person cannot know that many as you... It's hard to run online business, and is also impossible to leave them alone for a week or tow and when come back find them as you left them.

Johnny, you gave useful advices, my friend. Those who accept them, has more chance of staying alive.

This is such kind of situation that many people don't think ahead with. Yet it can happen to anyone, anytime. However, an entrepreneur can be prepared to a revenue loss at some level.

You should begin your preparing to an unexpected event when your business plan is made - before starting the business at all. It is advisable to plan your cash flow, in which you list your expected spending and expected money coming in.

In your business plan you need to determine, how and for how many parts you divide your returns. You need to form a reserve in your business plan. Even if your business plan is only a one page sheet, you must also specify how many per cent you reserve.

One more point. You also need to include into your business plan, what will happen if -- for some reason -- you part with your business.

When I made business plans for myself and for others, I always kept these in mind.

      Many successes,

      Sandor
