Strange Message From Contact Me Form

Dear Warriors,
I am an Amazon affiliate. On every review site I have, I have added a contact me form. Usually I receive thank you messages from them and sometimes request to change review (from some unhappy customers) but today someone sent me message complaining a lot about Amazon.com. He asked me to stop advertising Amazon products.

He had spent a good amount of time writing lot of things against promoting Amazon products which of course I never bothered to read. Whatever I read was good enough to give me an idea that the person hates Amazon very much.

Does any other Amazon Affiliate ever got this kind of message from someone.

Yes - I've had something pretty similar once, not via a contact form, in my case, but as an email in response to an early autoresponder series email.

You don't need to take any notice, of course, if you don't want to.

There are always people who whine and hate, typically - directly or indirectly - through their own inadequacies and failures. :p

There are people in some US states for whom Amazon/US state tax procedures makes affiliation very difficult, and that causes some ill-will and resentment (and whiners often misdirect their ill-will and resentment, of course). There are also people who have tried and failed and don't understand how anyone can make a living out of 5%/6% commissions, and will try to ridicule affiliates.

You get some similar things with ClickBank, too: there are people who've been banned by them, people who struggled for months and never made a sale because they didn't understand that they had to build a list, or they promoted products with opt-ins on their sales pages and all sorts of nonsense like this; even a few who have somehow convinced themselves that ClickBank is "skimming" and that they're all crooks, and so on. Best just to ignore all this stuff, really?

.....ahhh ... I almost died. You're a sharp-shooter Alexa. ... but you missed by half an inch .... lol

I would be a hell of a whiner every time I lose huge amounts of money. I think that is a natural reaction until I can get over it, move on and use my energy to overcome the situation.

With the increasing numbers of scammers and conmen, we'd see more whiners and haters as a result. Of course the current economic environment is not helping either.

Some people would react more intensely than others and would do some sort of campaigns against the "culprits". At the other extreme end, some would lay very low and sulk in the darkest corner of their rooms, probably moving towards depression.

So we can't really blame them and shouldn't insult them. We ought to empathize and help, if we want good karma in return.

      2 cents.

Actually it happens because of one or two bad experience in purchasing. Your regular customer may go against you for a certain service or product that he think is of bad quality. And he will not give you a single option even to revive his belief! All is because, "Customer is the king" and every customer is a different segment with his choice, mentality and personality. I found similar response regarding amazon and some others reputed site as well but the proportion is really very very low.

      Alexa,
There are always people who whine and hate, typically - directly or indirectly - through their own inadequacies and failures.
True. It's not a good idea to assume those are the most common reasons for this type of response, though.

Sometimes people have bad experiences with one aspect of a product or service and generalize them across the whole entity. Sometimes they misunderstand something and overreact. Sometimes they are told things by others that end up not being true, or that are distorted and out of context.

Sometimes the dislike is even well-deserved. That happens, after all.

A more important thing to keep in mind is that the person may have a fundamentally different view of the subject. They may have philosophical or political objections that aren't shared by everyone else, for example. Or that the person they're addressing may not be familiar with.

It's a bad idea to dismiss objections as "inadequacies and failures" without a bit more basis than "They disagree with me." I realize that's not your intent, but it's a message a reasonable person could draw from the way you stated this. And it's something a LOT of people in this business tend to do.

Thank you, Paul. Yes - that wasn't my intent. My wording left something to be desired.

          Alexa,
Yes - that wasn't my intent.
Clearly. It wouldn't have fit with your usual comments on topics like this.
My wording left something to be desired.
Mea culpa. We all do it. I just find it's better to save those sorts of comments for times when the quoted person has been around long enough to notice things like "wasn't your intent." .

Some people overreact to such stuff. Better to say it to the reasonable folks, and let the ones who don't know the situation get the message "second hand," so to speak.

Lol I got complain mail from someone who
    didn't like dogs!

    It's a weird world...but people have their
    own grievances. Haters gonna hate.

It's not unethical in any way.

Just ignore, you and millions of others know about Amazon and how good their process works, so there's nothing to confuse you.

I think they are just wasting their time and yours. So now they are going to try and take down Amazon, one of the biggest sites on the net, one misplaced message at a time? You would think they had better things to do. If it is because they didn't make any affiliate profits they should be figuring out where they went wrong or trying a different program if they don't like amazon. Instead of messaging you they should be talking to their list; if they have one :p.

Every Good company have bad reputations. And you also should remember that there are some clients who never satisfy. So this type of mails are usual.
We all know that Amazon has really some major problems. I have seen some products which will be popular in some countries but they don't have the shipment there.
