Can I trust Clickbank?

I'm experimenting with promoting a couple of Clickbank products for the first time. I'm using a URL shortening service to cloack the links and track how many clicks they get. But Clickbank's analytics shows a huge difference. Examples:

Product 1 - URL tracker says 1008 clicks (over a week or so). Clickbank analytics says hop count only 175
Product 2 - tracker says 171 (in one day). Clickbank says hop count only 10.

Surely anyone clicking on the link and reaching the landing page counts as a hop? Or have I missed something? The URL shortener/tracker is definitely working. Is Clickbank trying to cheat me of hops somehow?

From what I know this is not really much a problem and clickbank is a quite a large reputable company, I don't think it is a cheat or any bugs.

Clickbank is wonderful for marketers. Lots of money been made by listing product in clickbank. Also clickbank do pay the affiliates. I don't see whats the problem.

For clickbank tracker, there are lag and not all clicks will be shown immediately. It takes time.

    Why?

    Which one?

It can cost you a lot of business, to try to measure it that way. I strongly suspect that the proportion of people willing to click on those is far smaller than many people imagine.

Yes, but it may not be relevant to the question you're asking.

I don't know. I can, in matters of honesty and integrity when dealing with vendors and affiliates - but that doesn't prove that you can.

Thanks all. I know CB is popular and widely used. As it happens the URL shortener is co-owned by one of my businesses and the tracking facility is only available to myself and a handful of people, so I have good reason to know the problem is not at that end - unless of course there's a technical issue. Naturally I've investigated that, but I will check further. The mystery is why so many clicks shown there translate into so few at Clickbank, even allowing for CB's delays in reporting (which I've read about elsewhere). Anyway, it doesn't seem like you folk have come across this problem, so I will certainly look at the tracker end again.

Anyway, thanks for your links and thoughts, Alexa: I have read many of your posts at WF and hold your advice in high esteem.

I know a number of people that make 6-digit income monthly through Clickbank. They have One Million Dollar business because of Clickbank. They trust Clickbank and get a lot of money from there.

Clickbank is still one of the Internet Goldmine. The other one is Warriorforum of course...

Ok, ok. I'll try some redirects instead and see if Google Analytics agrees with the ClickBank figures!

Please who do you know? And why are you not making that kind of amount like your friend? Most of those account screenshots you see are VENDOR screenshots and not AFFILIATE screenshots

ClickBank is a legit company and trustworthy, the problem could be that the URL Tracker is being blocked by peoples browsers, they might click a few times but ultimately never get through, the tracking software will show these clicks but as they are not reaching the landing page they are not being registered by ClickBank.

Use a well known service would be my suggestion.

I believe that there are people who click your link and close the window in the middle because it doesn't transfer them to the product they were interested on... They are just watching the advertisement of the company which you use to short your links and leave.
Maybe that's the reason why you have so little visits to your clickbank products.

The legitimacy issue is often brought into question because:

    - Clickbank with tens of thousands of products in its marketplace obviously has quite a few stinkers (IMO the crap is largely sitting in the IM and Forex niches) that people gravitate to. These products are poorly put together, have high rates of return and affiliates get frustrated and dismiss everything else in CB because of their bad experience in one or two niches.

    - Clickbank (because it hasn't always done the best job in policing their marketplace) can have a questionable reputation on the Internet. Google AdWords and WebOfTrust have flagged the order form page in the past.

    - Clickbank's analytics are sometimes just very slow to catch up. It also seems that every few months a new thread is opened up where someone has gone from x number of hops a day to zero - and sure enough a bunch of other people follow up noticing the same monkey business.

That means the analytics just stops working and everyone assumes they are losing commissions. However, having had a product listed and a reasonably consistent volume of sales through ClickBank I can tell you that some of the funkiness you see in reporting might be real and frustrating to deal with but ClickBank pays on time and I'm confident that I'm not losing sales.

An affiliate just starting out can do just fine with ClickBank, AdSense or Amazon.

I consider all three to be reliable platforms to use.

I'm more suspect of some of the CPA networks (shaving, shady affiliate managers, not getting paid etc. etc.).

Clickbank is huge and reliable. The problem is probably in the URL shortening service. Their stats probably count bots as well. Clickbank only counts real user clicks.

That is probably the reason for odd data you're getting (:

Clickbank is one of the best marketplaces online to make money. Make sure that there is no difference between a hop and a visit. Also, make sure that your url shortener shows unique clicks.

Otherwise, I don't think Clickbank would try to cheat you.

I am beginning to doubt CLickbank, How can I be getting order form submits repeatedly and no sales? The order day I complained about a particular product on this forum and immediately I got 2 sales??? Some products you have 500 hops and not even an order form impression. I think I will soon switch to Amazon and mange the low commissions there.

Clickbank is probably as reliable as any big vendor online. That is to say, they are not prefect but are definitely not out to screw affiliates. Most complaints about hops not showing up as sales in affiliates accounts I think is more about the fluctuations of conversion patterns.

Why shouldn't you trust clickbank? They are paying all of their affiliates and even the newbies make money with them easily. You should definitely put some more trust in them.

Clickbank is wonderful. They have been paying for so long and there is no doubt you would get paid as well unless you do something fishy.

Do I think Clickbank affiliate marketing is the best way to make money online...not really (although I have been successful with them), but that doesn't meant it isn't legit!

I've always been paid on time, everytime like clockwork by Clickbank...so I can vouch first-hand for the fact that they are a legitimate company, and pay their affiliates.

They do put 10% of your earnings in a holding period for a few weeks (can't remember exactly how long), but have to in order tomprotect themselves against refunds...which will happen every once in awhile.

My advice to you is this...promote recurring income products so that you can create a residual income for yourself!

  • Of course you can, homburg. I've been making money with them for months and I've always been paid ON TIME, EVERYTIME... no exceptions.

They're really a reliable company. PM me if you'd like a recommendation of what CB products to promote that have zero refund rates in my experience.

clickbank is a marketplace and is one of the if not the largest digital market place , and have made a hell lots of millionaries, so i am sure we cannot suspect the platform, what the vendors do ...well ....hope they are ethical and most likely majority of them are as in any walk of life, but considering the amount of money paid out there will a few trying to game the system....

Clickbank is definitely legit. You also have recourse and that is something you need in this business. They have systems in place that can deal with any problem that can crop up.

Please try without shortening the links, if you see some difference then there is problem in the URL shortening service. I don't think there should be any problem with ClickBank.

It really is a great company, now just change their policies but it is the largest affiliate marketing of digital products, it generates a lot of money to vendors and their affiliates if you acquire a product and you do not like it you can return the money and keep the product, is very reliable for payment, I have used it for a long time and I made good money in it.
