Email List Building Vs Sending To Product Pages

Hey!

I am stragling to make some money out of my website (weight loss niche).
Last week I started collecting emails to build a list.
The reason is that a new product I decided to promote has 250 clicks-visits to product landing page through my links and banners and no sales!

  • Why is that happening?
  • Is the list building my only way to see some sales?
  • Is it ok to have so many clicks with no convertion?

Note: My site is in Greece and there are not so many products in my language, so I have not many options.

Thanks.

    Hi

It depends on the product. If you are selling affiliate products (i.e. Clickbank) in the weight-loss niche then a list would help.

If you are in Greece and there are few products in your language, have you considered translating one and releasing it as your own product?

If Greece has a buyers market, this could be quite lucrative.

You could approach in two ways:

    1. Create your own products
Use PLR as a starting base and/or model your products off existing successful products. Copy the model, not the product.

    2. Translate Existing Products
Contact successful product authors and ask them if they would be interested in a Greek version of their product. This gives you a 'name' product to market as an affiliate in your own language and builds a relationship with the author. Depending on the set-up, you may be able to build a partner relationship with the author for the translated version.

In either case, for affiliate marketing, building a list is very important. You build a relationship with non-buyers who may become buyers in the future and you want to retain buyers who will become repeat buyers.

You want to build your business so you can send an email to a list of known buyers to have a 'built in' income stream when you start promoting a new product. You don't want to rely on mostly cold traffic.

not getting many sales and very low conversions is because of the quality of your traffic

your either getting them in the wrong part of the buying cycle

or its just completely un targeted traffic

building a list is certainly the way to go

build your list by giving something top quality away and then you then have a list which is lazer targeted to what you are trying to sell. Then work on building the relationship with your subscribers and build trust

trust and credibility are the main reasons why people dont buy

then once you have given lots of value, and you have a top quality related product which would benefit your subs then promote it within your follow ups

this would be a good start

if you have not many greece option product around a niche, I think you can sell advertising to offline or another online business. That particular list base can also be your source of traffic when you build online community like forum as well. HOpe it helps.

Given the state of the economy in Greece, and the level of unemployment, is that really the right market ? Just a thought...........

Try targetting Melbourne/Australia? Biggest Greek community outside of Greece. And they have jobs.......and therefore disposable income.

To be honest, I am not sure about the economic situation in my counrty.
I am goon on my niche and I really like it. I can share valuable information.
It is difficult to change niche right now.

Do you think that an email list can make the difference and help me shell some products?

Do you have a good email list strategy to propose?

(Thanks for the answers so far!)

The answer is Yes having an email list will make all the difference in the world.

There are many reasone why your traffic is not converting It maybe because the quality of traffic ispoor one or the people who click are not all that into your niche or are not yet ready to make the purchase.

If you send your traffic first to your squeeze page and they become your subscribers, you have the opportunity to sell them not only one product but even future products of the same niche.

Just because they are not ready to buy now, does not mean they are not ready to purchase in the future.

With an email list you can build a relationship with them and condition them subtlely into buying from you.

List building is the best way to market a product. However you need targeted traffic and consistent traffic atleast 1000 visitor per day.

Where does this number come from? You can't do anything with 800 targeted visitors per day? Or 500 targeted visitors per day?! Sounds like quite a bit of traffic to me ... :p

I have ~150 visitors a day... What do you think?

I think you've done exactly the right thing, starting to build a list. I think you should try to opt in as high a proportion of them as you can. This is first and foremost. Once you know how to do that, then by all means start thinking about increasing your traffic-flow.

Look at it this way: even if you opt in only 10% of them, you'd still be building a list at the rate of 450 people per month. Those are people to whom you can make sales of whatever you're promoting now, and other things, too.

But don't start listening to people telling you that it isn't worth building a list from fewer than 1,000 visitors per day. This is just nonsense. :p

See if there's anything in this thread that helps you? It's a decent discussion: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

In my opinion, building an e-mail list is the best thing you can do as an affiliate. When you have the list, you can promote your products to people who are interested on them, so there is no so much searching and there is not any way to spam people.

But, I also believe that nowadays is difficult for people from Greece to buy products online. I have recently traveled to Greece and I saw that most people are just buying to eat and they are not searching for buying something which they will not need in the near future or it will be useless in a few days later.
Even if it's difficult for you to change niche, I suggest you to go with an English site, most people can read English, it will be easier to sell a product.

If you're just sending untargeted people to a landing page, they might not understand what it's for...

Maybe you should start a small blog where you have *free* information without asking them first.

Are you showing your face to them? Are you talking to a video? Do you have only text as the conversion media?

    Is the traffic untargeted?

Someone mentioned offline... that is a good place to start. Viral facebook campaigns.

Instead of having a basic landing page, offer something more exclusive. Offer a membership in the site where you have many articles and research notes behind a membership where they have to register first.

In your membership you would have many levels. First level is free. Second level is also free, but they must refer 3 friends to join, and they get their hands to the exclusive information!

    Hope this helps

Yes; it is. Your only way to see anything more than the occasional random sale, anyway.

You are in a very, very competitive market and although you don't see the Greek economy having any bearing on buying luxury items (weight loss products), it must have some affect.

It is essential to build your list (as you know) and ensure it contains emails just from those who have opted in to your list.

If you are just sending out an offer your returns will be low.

Have you considered some for of newletter that discusses successful weight loss methods that link to your products?

This way you could markey a dozen items in one go rather that a winger on on product.

    I hope this suggestion helps.

The only reason for this is the traffic is not targeted. Most of the time, it's not because of the products, but because of the traffic.

Example of untargeted traffic: Adfly traffic.
You could get cheap, hundreds of traffic, in short time, but it's hard to monetize this traffic.

I can now understand that it has to do with my keyword selection.
Do you think I can monetize the not targeted traffic with an email list?

You could send an email to your list asking them what they want from you and then focus on the most popular area and find a product which suits them. I also think establishing what the market want in your country and then translating a product and working on a joint venture with the owner of the product would be a good way to make some money.

Never send direct traffic to a sales page.
It's one of the biggest mistakes I have done.
If you are wondering whether you should build a list,
    the answer is yes!
Spend your time sending traffic to your squeeze page instead
    to build your list.
From your list, you will have the opportunity to share with them
as many products as you want.
But of course dont sell them BS products just for the sake of making money.

I think that building the list is a great start and one thing I would add is to possibly look at surveying your list with a tool such as "Survey Monkey"

It has to be list first followed by surveying your audience and asking them what they do, what are there problems.....this will give you ideas for solutions whether they be your own product or an affiliate product.

I think the previous comment about the Greek community in Australia can be agreat starting point for you.

    Good luck
