The Passing Of Andy Bourland - A True Warrior

I had the pleasure of getting to know Andy Bourland after
he came to me as a coaching client 2 years ago. At that
time, he told me that he knew he didn't have long to live,
and that he wanted to leave a legacy for his family.

We worked together for only a year or so, then our
paths parted, but I was deeply touched by this brilliant
and very loving man.

For those of you who didn't know him, he founded Clickbank
University among his most recent activities. Years before
that he built ClickZ into a multi-million dollar enterprise.

Andy passed on February 16th. His blog posts as his health
gradually failed are inspiring and you can read them here:

    Regretfully, I didn't know Andy until now.

    I now know him a whole lot more (with the help of Jeanne in the final weeks)

    As I write this, I feel incredibly upset, because the guy is clever, funny, sincere and honest. He also has a wife and kids. My heart goes out to them all.

    The last few posts from Jeanne...so poignant.

    I'll raise a glass to Andy, Jeanne and the kids tonight.

    I didn't know Andy either, but have been following his story since some time around November. The post where he spoke so candidly about his decision to die in a hospice so that his kids wouldn't be freaked out by the possibility of him haunting parts of the house if he died at home was a real choker, yet in that one and others I never saw a trace of self-pity. He seemed like a great guy, bearing the unbearable with amazing dignity, and showing more concern for the effect his death would have on his loved ones than he appeared to show for himself.

    I hope that wherever he's gone, he's walking in the sunshine now. He deserves to be.

      I knew Andy from way back and it's a sad thing when someone like Andy leaves us.

    Unfortunately I also never knew Andy but wish I had. His blog is a great read because he was at peace and ready to leave when the inevitable moment came. Many are not that fortunate. But there is another reason that his blog is a great read because, not only was Andy able to express his thoughts, emotions and feelings in brilliant prose, but it seems that his family members share his talents. While this was a time that would shock most people out of thought collecting both he and they appear to be thinking only of the effect that their actions would and could have on others.

    My sincere condolences to all the family. You have lost a great man and belatedly so have we.
