[QUESTION] How to Get Hosting From Hostgator Without ID Verification...

I want to change my host to hostgator.

They have a lot of good review online.

But I don't want to verify my ID with them.

Does anybody know a way to bypass the ID verification?

Never been asked to verify my ID with them. Are you in a high risk country or something?

Is this some new procedure of theirs?

I've had hosting there since 2008. They did actually call me, when I originally ordered and paid for my first year's hosting (I was quite surprised) but they didn't ever ask for any ID to be sent, as far as I remember ...

They do ask for ID verification, if you pay with someone else's credit card.

I've had two different hosts in the U.S and on both occasions I've had to send a copy of my passport. It seems to be a security thing. As for HostGator, here's a response from them - Why do I have to verify my new order? « HostGator.com Support Portal

I see ... thanks, guys. Probably they've never asked me for ID because all I've done since 2008 is renew my hosting (and with my own credit-card), not initiate it? There's extra security everywhere, these days. It has both advantages and maybe some disadvantages too, I think?

The calling was a new thing.

When I ordered hosting last year, the tech support won't let me verify by phone.

          Thanks for the help

Lat week I signed up for a hosting account with Hostgator for a client and I wasn't asked to verify anything...I used my own CC to sign up.

Why don't you want to send them a copy of your ID? This is standard procedure when there's an information discrepancy.

There is no way around it and if you tripped the security check at hostgator, you will have problems with others hosts that you the same security check.

One thing that always trips it for me is when I order from an IP address that is outside the billing zipcode of my CC.
