I do... but have tend to go hot and cold on updating it.

My affiliate niches sites are blogs but I don't really considering them 'blogging' in the true sense of the word. They're just little money makers but usually have little personal attachment to them.

Oh yes I blog. I lost my entire blog a couple months ago due to server crash and no back-up (that lesson now learnt) anyway as soon as the blog went down my income dropped with it, only now is it starting to build back up again.

If your serious about making money online, you need your own site and blogging is the easiest way to get one.

Blogging for me is to risky, time is more important than money for me and I need to be able to tell quickly if something is working or not so I can either cut it loose or give it a bit more time to breath. Which is why I opt for things like CPA and paid traffic, because I can tell very quickly if it's a winner or a loser. You can pump a lot of money and time into blogs and even years from now not know if they're going to work or not, just a waste of time IMO.

I used to blog but I got tired of that niche and stopped... It was not the time I was spending, maximum time was an hour, but my earnings where not that much to encourage me keep posting. Since then I didn't create a new blog, maybe in the future, I need to learn more about how to monetize a blog.

In the past I had a few of those small affiliate blogs. But yes, I dont class them as true blogs. Worthwhile however small the blog is.

Im really sad to hear that, I have my database backed up every day automatically. Also backup my website files on an external drive. Blogs are powerful as you know and are nice earners.

Hello! Blogging is a very great past time. But if your blog is worth something you can use that to make money. But personally, I don't blog that much or at all. I do blog sometimes as a past time and as a stress lifter, but not that seriously devoted into it.

Yeah, that's how people mostly start out, as a hobby. It should be fun and as you say something you enjoy - with no stress. If you can do that then you can think about blogging for profit.

I have a number of niche blogs but I've always had a marketing blog that I always planned to do something with but just didn't have the time. It's only recently when I realized it was actually getting up to 50 visitors per day that I've started adding more posts.

I had a blog about five years ago that was making 0.50 per day. At the time it didn't seem like it was worth the effort so I got rid of it. I wish I kept the blog going! Wonder how much it would be worth today.

      Hi Jeff,

I would assume all traffic was naturally dripping in from Google? It probaly could have been your rainy day fund. People should try just 1 post week, last only 52 posts a year. Doesn't so bad now does it?

Yes, from Google and WF. No it doesn't sound like much. I think there is a bit of a barrier to entry and that is the time it takes for a blog to start seeing decent traffic from the search engines. But the great thing is the work you do early on can keep bringing you traffic for years... so it just keeps building once you get started.

That's the exactly right mindset to have. 3 months down the line you might have 100 UV everyday. 6 months later is could be 300. The appeal is you just keep growing.

I agree it can take up to 6 months to see (any) decent traffic. Depending on how often you post and how you network with others in your niche. Plant the seeds now, reap the fruits later. That's providing people want to grow a sustainable income.

I still receive traffic into my websites from my blogs that I had posted, years ago.

I used to run a few blogs but I stopped doing them. For the most part, blogging is all about ego and believing that what you think is so darn important and insightful that everyone else in the world really needs to know what you think. And also believing the illusion that people actually care about your opinions. :-D

Basically I've found that most bloggers and commenters are usually just about saying what they think and arguing with each other to "prove" that they're right and the other person is wrong. I don't waste my time with that kind of stuff. :-)

I disagree! I've gotten a lot of good information off of other blogs that I've read and I think that the information I post in my niche is good. It has nothing to do with what we think and arguing with others about it!

Not to mention there are many different types of blogs and styles of how they're done. I don't really think it's fair for you to make this kind of statement. Not everything posted on a blog is opinion.

Blogging is very essential to internet marketing. i guess your question is "Who doesn't want to earn money?". We run an online webshop for wide varieties of packaging machines and materials. We write articles and blogs for us to get more visitors. We're not really that focused with internet marketing at the moment but it is still one of our top priorities.

I look at blogs as a type of website platform. They make it very easy to update content and interact with your visitors.

A true blog as I see it is more personal, but can also earn money. That being the case I only have one true blog, Mystic Minnesota, a photo blog that I use mostly to share pics with family and friends.

I try to find at least a few minutes a week to post a 500 word article or so about the current happenings. You'll be surprised at how much even one article per week can add up. Plus its a great resource to have in case you ever want to sell products or create an email list.

I have blogged for a long time, but recently moved to one site and put all my energy to that one thing. I blog in series...currently I am blogging on how to tell your spouse is having an affair. Half Baked Lobster

But my series change all the time. I dont do niche blogging and most my writing and article writing gets marketed for me on some larger sites.

I also have three blogs I write for, love doing that.

But I dont do it like a lot of people, writing 500-1000 word articles, it works but I populate months out.

A little curation and mostly my own stuff.

Some people have a large ego that get fuelled by the comments they receive. Some people do care what you say, just like people care about what certain IM'rs say - don't give up.

Build a blog and keep it going to compliment whatever niche you decide to enter. You will surprise yourself. Dedicate a fraction of time you would spend posting on WF, instead write a post for your blog.

Everyday? Thats too much pressure. You will get burnt out. Plus people don't check a blog everyday (I do though) so a lot of your content wont get the attention it deserves. 2-3 times a week is fine.

Only takes a few minutes out of your day. Simple amount of effort to maintain as you say. People are talking like its really going to take forever, it doesn't have too take hours upon hours.

I am starting to make a regular blog post part of my plan now for my main blog.

But that would be just once a week or so for a subject that I have put a good bit of thought into and crafted a post I am happy with, carefully thought over every sentence, designed to inform visitors and encourage interaction.

But am also starting to step up the writing of multiple, more SEO oriented blog posts, which still add value but are more for creating numerous doorways that people can find my blog via Google. I might create a seperate category within the blog for that as to not take up the primary blog posts on the front page.

I used to just write one post for one keyword and then spend all my time trying to backlink it!

But now I just get them out on a regular basis and find that over time the traffic starts to come via various long tail keywords I had never even thought of, even if the main keyword is not that high up.

I do have a few blogs, but I don't really post in most of them. The one that I do post on now is my personal experience blog. I'm trying to blog from the ground up with real posts instead of using auto blogging or anything like that. What I'm trying to say is that I want to add more value to my readers instead of simply blogging to get a site ranked. But now I find that I actually do like blogging quite a bit. And I think finding the time out to post a short blog once a day (or at least close to that) can really help me achieve whatever I need to.

I do, but I just do it for fun. I just want to share what I want to share. I make sure that everything I write is backed up by some credible source, and inform them that I've written something using their information. Well, you can consider this as a relationship building technique of some sort.

The way I see it, a blog is very useful for every marketer that has an email list because it's a good way to give good free content to them to build a good relationship, so when the time comes for a sale things go smoother.
Try to stop seeing "making money by blogging" different from "capturing leads" "selling s*it" etc. etc.
You got all these bits and parts of what's known as marketing. When you use them all together they are more powerful that each on it's own.
So yeah, bottom line is that you should probably use a blog in your marketing.

I was planning on replying to every one but I looked at the large amount of responses and well it would have taken me a decade or so to craft quality responses.

What I will say is, posting 1 quality piece of content a week is perfectly fine. Quality is always better than quantity. I'm in the middle of writing a post for my blog at the moment. I'm excited, wondering how they are going to respond to the next post. That's what its all about, doing it because you want to and not because you feel you need to.

Yeah, that's perfectly fine. Though I myself like to find time and post most often(once a day if possible). Of course, I would rather post quality instead of quantity. If I want quantity, I can always use auto-blogging, but that would defeat the purpose. But blogging is very fun if you put your mind into it.

Like someone said earlier, also use it to publicly document their journey. Valuable to others but also when you need to revisit your steps on how you achieved somthing.

Just limit yourself to: 1 or 2 per week, you seem to have been getting burnt out. I'm not surprised you became tired - you must have been a like a speed demon writing your articles.

Of course, but I opted to streamline more efficient online ventures, like automated sales funnels. You only have X amount of hours per day and Y levels of concentration, and blogging is not the best way to invest your X and Y variables.

There are many other ventures far more efficient than blogging: product creation, list building, membership sites, etc. Remember what I said in the previous post: you only have X-hours and Y-concentration per day, and blogging does not yield good returns for your X*Y inputs.

              I guess it just depends.

I love blogging and I want to invest my X and Y variables into spending my week working on my blog and living in a nice country where I can live at the beach. If that's only 3-4K I'm fine with that.

If you're trying to build up as much money as possible then your X's and Y's are gonna be different.

What if you could invest fewer X and Y units while yielding better returns, and obviously you could still live in a beach (I'm not sure how that's got to do with anything). Would you still reckon that blogging is your best course of action?

I'll come up with ideas and take my moleskine down the beach and write them down. Move to a cafe where I'll write up a first draft on my netbook. Finally writing my final draft on my balcony using my Macbook Pro. LOL

The next day I'll sit in the park and market my site using the netbook. It's all about the whole blog concept for me. I'd rather blog and be comfortable than have squeeze pages and be constantly tweaking PPC campaigns.

But I understand that not everyone is going to be like that.

Just curious, where is a good place to have your blog critiqued? I scanned the warrior forum sections but didn't find any that fit the bill.

EDIT: To answer the OP's question.. yes, i do blog. I think it's a great way to voice your opinion and at least feel like you are being listened to. Plus, I do agree with whoever said it is somewhat of an ego boost for bloggers to see their name and have their own website with "followers". lol Personally, I like to think I am doing it to help other people.

    Yes, I do "blog."

I'm an Internet marketer who enjoys having a blog......not a blogger.

I post fresh, unique content to my IM blog about 3 times per week.

I've enjoyed learning and evolving it over the past year and a half.

Will never stop learning and improving it.

    Wishing you all the best.

I run a bunch of E-commerce sites - I have a Wordpress blog for each one, keeps it easy to be creating new content, new backlinks and helps bring in new traffic too.

I love to blog when I have the time. There are so many great blogs out there on so many different interesting subjects. It`s a jungle and it is hard to find the time... but I love it.

I blog. I love my blog. It's home to me and my readers. It's like a little community - they have each other's backs. I love seeing it.

I blog about lots of stuff - I rant, I praise, I review, I do all sorts of stuff.

I have other blogs where I post "articles" but none of them perform like my real blog. That's because my personality isn't in there like it is on my own blog.

I have just started blogging and am enjoying mysefl. I think it's important to write about things you love otherwise you'll get board pretty quickly and lose the motivation. Lots of well known IMers seem to have started this way so if it's good enough for them then it's good enough for me.

Many many blogs. Even when I have a static site, I try to attach a blog to it for SEO. Seems like Google loves the regular updates and pings that a blog provides. I spend the first part of the day (after coffee) updating the most important ones and cycling through the rest (my biggest money makers take exactly 11 minutes to update - I've timed it)

Definitely get yourself into the habit of updating your blog...it's just one of many ways to let Google know that there's life on your site.

Not only that, but if it's a personal blog, it gives you a chance to get your character exposed for all to see (just your character, mind ). You should check out folks like Yaro Starak for the full run-down of making the best use of your blog.

we do not just blog ....here is a list of 5 things we do.

    1) We have 5 places for our readers to optin while on our blog. List building is a must.

    2) We write high quality content that can spread virally.

    3) we network with big guns in our niche, we try our guts out to get on their blogs, or have links and banners on there blogs for bigger more healthy high quality traffic.

    4) We constantly refer back to our blogs in email and intergration marketing. This is working killer.

    5) We not only have high quality content that enriches peoples lives....we SEO our blog posts, as that is what google is now looking for. Not keyword stuffing, just nice SEO high quality content.

I just gave away the farm there to the newbie blogger, but who cares, I like you guys.

I like blogging. In fact I have several tumblr accounts where I blog about funny pictures, sexy ladies, and stupid silly videos on youtube. Nothing major, but keeps my mind fresh for my more money making projects.

You could say that most of my sites are actually blogs since they are built on Wordpress an or Blogger, but that's kind of stretching it these days since you can make a "blog" look like a regular high-design website.

Hi,curation it's a way to get your blog fresh content , a blogging software can also help , i write post only when i have real content to share , blogging or using blogs is a way too make money for sure .
Having your own product to sell it's much better on my opinion.

ive been blogging now for a few years on my personal Internet Marketing blog and I can safely say that my blog is the backbone of my online business and has really helped me to get where I am today

I know some may look at blogging as a waste of time but that`s probably because they are looking for fast profits and don`t want to build a real business or they simply can`t be bothered with building there own brand

I know some may still become successful without a blog and that is cool but with the amount of scammers and liars out there it`s more important now then ever to have a platform online where others can find out more about you and get to know you more

A personal blog is something you can build over a long period and it does wonders for your credibility once you have plenty of good content on it

It doesnt take much time, but evetything you do post on it make sure it`s helpful

And don`t do what 95% of other bloggers do and just create garbage posts promoting and reviewing other Internet marketing products

That is probably the worst thing you can ever do

    Paul
