Starting fresh, buying old domains?

I have 2 domains which gets at most 10 visitors a day (not many articles either), the domains are bestxxxxtrainingprogram.com and xxxxreview.com so not really good names if you want to build a site that can branch into different subcategories, so thinking of building a new site.

Is buying old domains a good idea, I´ve read this can be a mixed success?
I´ve read having old backlinks is also important.

Is there alternatives to using wordpress that are better for seo and traffic?

Sincerely
Karl

As far as I know aged domains are still a good idea if you can get one that fits your website and is for a decent price. Otherwise, you may as well put the money saved from not buying an aged domain in to extra SEO spending.

If you can, buy a cheap old domain that relates. Although domains are often not worth near the asking price so proceed carefully.

With the Panda & Penguin update, old domains are not used to be as powerful as before. This make sense since there are so many crappy old domains out there that have been traded like 100 times.

That being said, I would go with a new domain that is short, catchy and brandable since this makes it easier for you to expand later on that niche.

Plus, you don't know what kind of backlinks you are getting from an old domain. If the backlinks come from sites that Google don't like, you are doomed.

would definitely go with old domains with your keyword as they still have value.

I am also a bit confused with the aged domains, many people are complaining that the old domain they bought is having old spam back links which harm their SEO. Now with the Googles' new algorithm, is even harder to choose where to build back links.
Also some have bad reputation on social sites and on plug ins like WOT. This could not be a big problem, since you can choose an old domain name which was not nearly used.

In my opinion, some old domains are not worth the money, you can keep your money and do the work to improve the SEO.
