New types of TLDs? .COM vs. NET vs .IM vs .INFO

Hello,

I have seen many different views on TLDs. Basically in my view the hierarchy is .COM then .NET then .ORG. I have recently seen a few internet marketers using the TLD .IM which is the TLD for the Isle of Man. I think it's kind of cool as it directly implies that your website is related to Internet Marketing more so than a Isle of Man related site.

I want to create a blog, however my desired site's name .COM TLD is taken. Leaving only .ORG and .NET. I was thinking of using the .IM TLD.

What are your thoughts? Keep it traditional, or rock it Isle of Man style?

Would really appreciate your input. Thank you in advance.

Gary

If you plan on ranking any of the pages of the website you will be fighting an uphill battle with a .IM TLD. It wouldn't make sense to pick it over the .org.

If it is just a personal domain that you will be direct linking on social media or whatever though, it doesn't really matter you can use whatever .tld you'd like.

    .com>.org>.net.

Like others said anything else should not be an option (unless it's an area code like .co.uk)

.com only. Just find another name. Don't listen to fools who are stuck in the pre-panda, pre-penguin days....they are no longer worth listening to.

Google will place great emphasis on your domain from searches based on the Isle of Man, but with a population of just 85,000 is that something you can base a successful website on?
