The importance of testing

I have seen over the past few months many threads asking for the best squeeze page, the best placement for ads, the best whatever and even please critique my site threads all over the place.
To which the most knowledgeable warriors usually reply testing.
Well just the other day wired magazine did an article on how president Obama actually used A/B testing to gain more donations and even suggest readers that it is what basically made him win the elections.
So here it is for everyone to see the importance of testing everything.
