I've written a special tool for my subscribers to use - and thought that Warriors might find it useful as well.

You enter either a URL or an article (in text format) and the script will give you an analysis of the significant words and phrases used.

Quite often you find that you THINK you've optimized your writing for a particular word, but that as far as the search engines are concerned it is about something else entirely.

The script is free to use and there is no name squeeze.

Please try it out at Which keywords does the search engine see on your site?

I'd be very grateful to hear any comments, suggestions or bug reports about the script so that I can make it even more useful int he future - please PM me.

Cheers,

Martin

    Martin,

    1. That's a useful little script, thanks.

    2. You may add value to the results page with some additional information on keyword density. Perhaps some suggestions or guidelines on what range to aim for?

    3. I'd add a "Check another URL or article" link to the results page to encourage people to stay on the site.

    Nice job.

Thanks for sharing this free tool Martin. I need to do some keyword research within the week, so I'll put this to good use.

Thanks John. I'll think about your suggestions. one problem with recommending keyword densities is that the density required differs from niche to niche (so called SEO experts rarely tell you that) - so one niche might be optimal at 3% while another one might be better at 0.3%

I do have another tool that will find such niche-specific information - and a whole lot of other on-page SEO stuff too - but I charge for that one!

MarieReyes: This isn't a keyword tool that finds lists of keywords for you - it is one that checks how well you've used them.

    Great tool Martin, thanks!

One suggestion (unless I missed something), it would be great if you added an intelligent advisor type feature that actually tells the user what he's looking at, for example...

"The top 20 single keywords on your site means that.... "

"You can improve on your site ranking by using the top 10 paired keywords in this way or that..." etc... that kind of thing will add an extra reason for computer/net dummies like me to enjoy it.

Still, I love what I'm seeing, now just have to understand it

Brandon, Phil and Owen - you're very welcome.

Incidentally, Keyword Hacker doesn't like php pages. Either it returns nothing for them, or it throws up an internal server error.

I suspect this may be a failing of my hosting (I've put this on an old GoDaddy plan I had available) but it may also be a failing of my coding prowess! I'll investigate both possibilities as soon as I can.

(If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!)

          LOL!

On a serious note Martin, nice little application this. I used it on one of my sites and compared it to a competitor with good results (for my site I hasten to add!).

I agree with Mr Taylor, I think there is certainly potential for some (small) bells and whistles to be added (If you wanted to), and of course given that fact, I sense a monetisation opportunity too.

Thanks for sharing it for free, oh and congrats on 1,000 issues of Kick Start too, I did mean to email you at the time, but a slightly belated well done!

For some reason the tool doesn't work for me. I get a message about an internal server error. I tried many hours apart in case it was something temporary. Maybe it's because I'm in Indonesia now? I hope I don't have to wait a month to use this excellent tool!

Thanks for this useful tool Martin! Just by using it now, I've managed to find lots of new useful targeted keywords from it. This seems to be a terrific tool, Martin. Thank you for making it available to everyone at the Warriors. I've just tested a few of my sites with it and I can see I'm going to have to spend some time amending the content to increase the keyword density to what it should be. But then the rewards should be worth it.

BTW I used to live down the road from you in sunny Chislehurst. Haven't been there in 20 years but looking forward to returning some day.

this deserves a new blog entry. thanks so much. I will also use my latest blog entry as an experiment and how it will rank after optimizing the blog with the tool:

Superb Tool for Keyword Density | www.1UP-SEO.com

I just wrote this blog entry as an experiment, i checked it with the tool. I am going for 1.5% density for my two main phrases "keyword density" and "keyword density tool". I am hoping for page #1 on google...so let's see what happens
